Congressional GOP Swamp Rats Attack President Trump Following His ‘America First’ Tweets

President Donald Trump caused an uproar over the weekend when he put radicalized anti-American Democrats on blast in a series of patriotic tweets.

Congressional Republicans, instead of having the President’s back, are rallying the troops around the extremist Democrats and echoing their talking points against Trump’s factual statements.

Reps. Bill Huizenga and Paul Mitchell of the key battleground state of Michigan issued Twitter posts of condemnation toward Trump:

The biggest loser himself, Sen. Mitt Romney (UT), also used this controversy as an excuse to levy further attacks at the President who achieved what he never could.

“What was said, and what was tweeted, was destructive, was demeaning, was dis-unifying, and frankly, was very wrong,” Romney said.

Sen. Roy Blunt (MO) issued a statement indicating that Trump should take insults from the likes of Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (MA), Rashida Tlaib (MI), Ayanna Pressley (IL), and Ilhan Omar (MN) lying down.

“Just because the so-called squad constantly insults and attacks the president isn’t a reason to adopt their unacceptable tactics,” Blunt said. “There is plenty to say about how destructive House Democrats’ policies would be for our economy, our health care system, and our security. I think that’s where the focus should be.”

Sen. Tim Scott (SC) had the nerve to play the race card against Trump.

“The President interjected with unacceptable personal attacks and racially offensive language,” Scott said in a public statement. “No matter our political disagreements, aiming for the lowest common denominator will only divide our nation further.”

Sen. Susan Collins (ME), the consummate moderate, showed no backbone once more, and threw Trump under the bus for his comments.

“The President’s tweet that some Members of Congress should go back to the ‘places from which they came’ was way over the line, and he should take that down,” she said.

Rep. Will Hurd (TX) outright called Trump’s comments “racist” during an interview with CNN’s fake news host Christiane Amanpour. He even defended the loathsome foursome as real Americans.

“I think those tweets are racist, and xenophobic,” Hurd said Monday. “They’re also inaccurate. The four women he’s referring to are actually citizens of the United States. Three of the four were born here. It’s also behavior that’s unbecoming of the leader of the free world. He should be talking about things that unite, not divide us.”

Sen. Pat Toomey (PA), the ‘free market’ champion who supports cheap foreign labor for his corporate donors, also vouched for the true Americanism of Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, Pressley, and Omar in his statement against Trump’s remarks.

“Three of the four were born in America and the citizenship of all four is as valid as mine. I couldn’t disagree more with these congresswomen’s views on immigration, socialism, national security, and virtually every policy issue. But they are entitled to their opinions, however misguided they may be,” he said.

Other Republican legislators who have spoken out against Trump’s comments include Reps. Tom Cole (OK), Elise Stefanik (NY), Mike Turner (OH), John Katko (NY), Peter King (NY), Susan Brooks (IN), Fred Upton (MI), and Pete Olson (TX) as well as Sens. Rob Portman (OH), John Cornyn (TX), and Lisa Murkowski (AK).

Trump has ignored these complainers completely and doubled down today on calling out the extreme socialist Democrats.
