2020 WAR CHESTS: Bernie CRUSHES Fundraising Hauls of His Fellow Leftists

Bernie Sanders Smashes Opponents Fundraising

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders raised nearly $6 million in the first 24 hours of his campaign, crushing all of his opponents in the fundraising game so far.

Sanders announced his intention to run for president in 2020 as a Democrat yesterday, and in the following 24 hours he raised “$5,925,771 from 223,047 individual contributors,” an obscenely large amount of money that makes his opponents’ fundraising seem pitiful in comparison.

Among candidates who have either made information publicly available early or declared their candidacy during the last reporting cycle, Sanders has a clear and massive lead.

Coming in second place is Sen. Kamala Harris, who raised $1.5 million in the first 24 hours of her campaign. In third place is Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who said she raised $1 million in the first 48 hours of her campaign.

Candidates scoring below Harris and Klobuchar in the fundraising challenge did not raise even $1 million in their first 24 hours, and some have not raised such a comparatively paltry sum since starting their campaigns.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, for example, raised a mere $299,000 in the first 24 hours of her campaign, and while Julian Castro did not announce a 24 hour fundraising number, he raised only $220,000 in the first two weeks of his campaign.

Surprisingly, Venture For America founder Andrew Yang, who promises to provide Americans with a “universal basic income” should he be elected, also beat the better recognized Warren and Castro, raising over $350,000 since the start of his campaign.

Meanwhile, Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Cory Booker have not released 24 hour totals or fundraising information, but are reportedly courting top Democrat donors, including those on Wall Street, to help fund their campaigns.

While Sanders’ fundraising abilities are impressive and leave his campaign with an overflowing war chest, it is worth noting that President Donald J. Trump has over $16 million tucked away to face the Democrat nominee in 2020.

Joe Biden Surges in South Carolina, Florida, Throwing Wrench into Sanders’ Easy Victory

Biden might actually consolidate the ‘moderate’ lane after all.

Joe Biden appears to be surging in the forthcoming Democratic primary state of South Carolina, throwing a wrench into what some have called an easy path to victory for frontrunner Bernie Sanders.

Biden has looked to South Carolina as a redoubt for his campaign after struggling mightily in the first three primary and caucus states. After Sanders’ resounding Nevada victory, he appeared set to challenge the former Vice President in the first southern state to vote, but the latest rounds of polling reveal that Biden has the state on lock.

A Monmouth University poll released Thursday showed Biden with a blowout lead of twenty percentage points in the Palmetto state. Biden has made appeal to African American voters a crucial element of his primary strategy, and the South Carolina polling suggests he’s retained strong support from black voters, even after his early campaign mishaps. African American voters form a majority of the state’s Democratic primary electorate.

Sanders languishes in a distant second in the poll, trailing Biden by a margin of 36% to 16%. Other polling recently conducted shows Biden with a smaller lead, but Sanders is yet to take the lead in a South Carolina poll with two days before the election.

New polling also shows the former Vice President retaking the lead in the Super Tuesday state of Florida, leading second-place Michael Bloomberg by a strong margin of nine percent. Sanders is all the way in third place in the Florida St. Pete poll, and such a finish in one of the first big states to vote after Super Tuesday would likely ensure that the Democratic Primary remains wide open.

Biden’s polling suggests that the career politician might actually have a chance to consolidate support from self-identifying ‘moderate’ Democrats, after competitors like Pete Buttigieg and Michael Bloomberg appeared set to eat his lunch.
