23-Month-Old Boy Dies After Being Repeatedly Punched in the Face by Attacker in Chicago

A Chicago toddler is dead after being severely beaten by a person who battered the 23-month-old kid’s face, and a suspect has been brought into custody for the heinous crime.

Michael Robinson, 23, has been charged with first-degree murder following the death of 23-month-old Antwun Gayden. Following his injuries, Gayden was transferred to the Comer Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

“It’s bad enough that there’s kids getting shot, now we got kids being beat,” neighbor Lance Lee said to WGN 9. “I don’t know what’s going on.”

The Cook County medical examiner’s office determined that Gayden died as a result of the abuse that allegedly occurred at the hands of Robinson. He is expected to be arraigned in court sometime today.

Big League Politics has reported on how crime is spiking in Chicago amidst the backdrop of widespread rioting and a call for police to be defunded and removed:

Over 100 people were shot in Chicago during Father’s Day weekend and at least 14 of those shot ended up dying.

So far in 2020, this was the most violent weekend in Chicago.

According to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, 104 people were shot between June 19 to June 22, with several shootings take place early in the morning of June 22.

Of these random shootings that took place in Chicago, a number of them claimed the lives of children.

“Bullets don’t just tear apart the things they strike,” Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said during a press conference June 21 addressing the surge in gun violence. “Bullets also tear apart families. Bullets destroy neighborhoods and they ruin any sense of safety in a community.”

“Good men throughout this city should be celebrating with their families on a beautiful day, but instead, a number of Chicagoans will be spending Father’s Day grieving the loss of their children,” he continued, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.

“These kids are not criminals,” Chicago Police Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan noted, making reference to some of the children who fell prey to gunfire, according to ABC 7. “They are not gang members. They have nothing to do with the ongoing disputes out there and they just get gunned down for no reason at all.”

“A line was crossed,” declared the Reverend Ira Acree of Greater St. John Bible Church.“This is a horrific Father’s Day. This 3-year-old baby lost his life. … I could not pastor this community and not say something.”

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot also chimed in about the violence. She went on Twitter and said: “Our city’s collective heart breaks to hear the unfathomable news of a 3-year-old boy who was shot and killed tonight on Chicago’s West Side. There are simply no words to describe such a heinous, unconscionable act of cowardice to shoot at a toddler.”

Crime is spiking in Chicago and other big cities run by Democrats throughout the country, as Americans get a sneak preview into what their country will look like following the demographic collapse.
