Alec Baldwin Just Killed Someone Through Poor Gun Safety on a Movie Set

Actor and producer Alec Baldwin shot and killed a cinematographer during filming for the upcoming movie ‘Rust,’ on Wednesday, raising serious questions about the actor’s safety practices.
The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department in New Mexico indicated that the actor had been the one handling what he believed to have been a ‘prop’ gun when it was discharged. Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and director Joel Souza were shot by Baldwin. Ms. Hutchins was confirmed to have died several hours after reports of the shooting.
A statement from the production crew of the movie Rust claimed that a prop gun had misfired with blanks. “There was an accident today on the New Mexico set of Rust involving the misfire of a prop gun with blanks. Two crew members have been taken to the hospital and are receiving care. Production has been halted for the time being. The safety of our cast and crew remains our top priority.”
This explanation is somewhat questionable. Firearms loaded with blanks-cartridges that don’t have actual bullets- can sometimes cause injuries from hot air, but it’s essentially unheard of for someone to be killed from an injury from a blank cartridge.
The first rule of gun safety entails treating every firearm that you ever touch as loaded. Baldwin, a longtime Democrat, had frequently attacked gun rights and the NRA when portraying Trump, probably should’ve paid more attention to the safety rules that gun enthusiasts teach shooters.
No criminal charges have been filed as of this time. Baldwin’s action potentially make him liable for a felony charge of negligent manslaughter, which is punishable in every legal jurisdiction with a sentence of years in prison. The celebrity actor is widely known for a crude and unflattering portrayal of Donald Trump on Saturday night live, but he might soon gain the distinction of being one of the few A-list actors sentenced to prison time.
