Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Suggests She May Quit Politics in New York Times Interview
What a weak leader.

New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggested that she may quit politics in an interview with the New York Times released on Saturday, stating that she had considered not even running for a second term and that the stress and interpersonal hostility of serving in Congress had soured her towards serving in Congress.
“I genuinely don’t know. I don’t even know if I want to be in politics. You know, for real, in the first six months of my term, I didn’t even know if I was going to run for re-election this year,” admitted Ocasio-Cortez in response to a question about the possibility of her running for the US Senate. The freshman congresswoman went on to cite “stress” and “violence” as experiences that had
“It’s the incoming. It’s the stress. It’s the violence. It’s the lack of support from your own party. It’s your own party thinking you’re the enemy. When your own colleagues talk anonymously in the press and then turn around and say you’re bad because you actually append your name to your opinion.”
Ocasio-Cortez went on to clarify that she did in fact ultimately run for reelection(which she secured last week) in order to prove that her brand of progressive socialism wasn’t a fluke, and would be sustainable as a political movement.
The progressive congresswoman has been feuding with Congressional Democrats in the wake of the election, which saw Democrats lose five seats in an election where they expected to pick up seats. The factions of the Democratic Party both blame one another for the poor returns, with neoliberals claiming that allusions to ‘socialism’ damaged Democratic prospects.
Bernie Sanders is at least a hardened ideologue willing for fight for the merits of his democratic socialist political ideals even if he’s met with scorn and rejection from the corrupt Democratic establishment. AOC seems to be little more than a textbook millennial narcissist who can’t accept skepticism and criticism.
With “leaders” like these, it’s no wonder the socialist-Left element of the Democratic Party is little more than an inept lapdog for politically ruthless establishment Democrats.

Arizona’s Paul Gosar Proposes Amending Coronavirus Package to Replace Pork with $10,000 Stimulus Checks
Gosar wants direct aid to the American people.

Representative Paul Gosar of Arizona has proposed that the federal government pay stimulus checks of $10,000 to Americans beleaguered by the coronavirus pandemic, adopting an approach that would prioritize direct payments to individuals over payments to state and local governments. Gosar’s Amendment, offered on Friday night, would also replace payments to extend federal unemployment benefits.
Only 9% of Pelosi’s $1.9 trillion “plan” is related to COVID-19.

— Rep. Paul Gosar, DDS (@RepGosar) February 27, 2021
As the American Rescue Plan currently stands, $1,400 stimulus checks to American taxpayers who filed less than $75,000 in income in 2018 make up $422 billion- a mere 22% of the total spending in the relief package. Gosar’s proposal would replace much of the questionable spending with direct relief.
If the federal government intends to go ‘all-in’ on deficit spending in response to the coronavirus recession, Gosar’s proposal would ensure that the money is spent directly on the livelihood of American taxpayers. Less than half of the spending of Biden’s stimulus is directly targeted towards taxpayers, with education, energy, transport and state governments receiving almost as much money as the American people under Biden’s $1.9 trillion plan.
(Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget)
Biden’s pork proposal can easily be retooled to prioritize direct spending to Americans, be it in the shape of stimulus checks or buffed unemployment benefits to Americans who have lost their jobs in the recession. Instead, the establishment Democrat has opted to prioritize payments to powerful lobby groups and corporate institutions.
The American Rescue Plan passed the House in a Friday night vote. Should the massive spending package fail to pass the Senate in budget reconciliation, congressional leaders may be left with no choice but to consider proposals such as Gosar that replace federal spending with direct relief to the American people.
