Anthony Sabatini Calls Out House Speaker Chris Sprowls for Blocking DeSantis’ New State Guard Plan
Florida House Speaker Chris Sprowls is refusing to fund the new state guard project Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has recently put forward.
According to a tweet State Representative Anthony Sabatini posted on February 9, 2022, Sprowls is apparently putting roadblocks behind the funding for this program.
Sabatini tweeted, “RINO Speaker @ChrisSprowls and his army of empty suit servants in the Legislature are REFUSING to fund @GovRonDeSantis’s Florida State Guard
PRIMARY EVERY RINO THIS YEAR.”
The state defense force DeSantis wants to resurrect will be tasked with assisting the National Guard in hurricanes, natural disasters, and other emergencies that occur in Florida. At the time, DeSantis emphasized that the Florida State Guard would “not be encumbered by the federal government.” The Florida State Guard would only respond to DeSantis. In addition, it would not be deployed for federal operations and would not obtain federal money.
Now, Sabatini is pointing to a POLITICO article which indicated that the plan to bring back the Florida State Guard is “not in the House and Senate budgets that will go before the main budget committees today and there’s no legislation to create it either.”
While Florida has a strong governor, the rest of the state still has a shaky Republican roster filled with establishment types. It will be up to the Florida grassroots activists to play clean up and unseat establishment incumbents.
Representatives like Sabatini will be playing a pivotal role in establishing similar forms of legislative discipline. More Republicans nationwide should follow in the Florida representative’s example and start putting the GOP establishment on blast.
