AT&T Has a Racial Re-Education Program that Claims Racism is a “Uniquely White Trait”

Christopher Rufo, a Senior Fellow of City at the Manhattan Institute, was able to obtain a cache of internal documents from a racial reeducation program that AT&T Corporation uses to teach its white employees to hate themselves because of their race.

In this program, there is promotion of the idea that “American racism is a uniquely white trait” and advocates for culturally leftist causes like “reparations,” “defund police,” and “trans activism.”

AT&T’s Listen Understand Act is largely rooted in the foundational principles of critical race theory. Rufo noted that it also features content that deals with “intersectionality,” “systemic racism,” “white privilege,” and “white fragility.” 

CEO John Stankey rolled out the program in 2020. Stankley told his employees that private corporations like AT&T have an “obligation to engage on this issue of racial injustice” and advocate  for “systemic reforms in police departments across the country.”

Rufo revealed that he was able to get in touch with a senior AT&T employee, who remained anonymous. This employee explained how managers at AT&T are now judged annually on diversity matters. Employees must participate in programs such as book clubs, discussion groups, mentorship programs, and “race reeducation exercises.”

The anonymous sources said that white employees are tacitly expected to admit their complicity in “white privilege” and “systemic racism.” If they don’t admit to it, these employees will receive penalties on their performance reviews. 

On top of that, employees are asked to sign a loyalty pledge to “keep pushing for change.” There are suggestions for employees to continue “reading more about systemic racism” and “challenging others’ language that is hateful.” The employee claimed that “If you don’t do it, you’re [considered] a racist.”

Rufo noted that “On the first page of AT&T’s Listen Understand Act internal portal, the company encourages employees to study an article titled ‘White America, if you want to know who’s responsible for racism, look in the mirror.’” This article asserts that the US is a “racist society” and explicitly blames whites people for the US’s lingering problems: “White people, you are the problem. Regardless of how much you say you detest racism, you are the sole reason it has flourished for centuries.” Dahleen Glanton, the article’s author, wrote that “American racism is a uniquely white trait” and that “Black people cannot be racist.” She also went on to say that white women, “have been telling lies on black men since they were first brought to America in chains,” and, along with their white male counterparts, “enjoy the opportunities and privileges that white supremacy affords [them].”

Big Business has been firmly infected by the woke virus. Conservatives will not only need to boycott businesses that engage in woke behavior but also patronize small-and medium-sized enterprises that reject wokism. Ultimately, the Right will need to build parallel networks of businesses that align with their interests and patronize them as much as possible.

Leftist-oriented businesses are simply privatized arms of the Left and could pose a major threat to right-wing causes.
