Attorney General Ken Paxton Pressures Notorious Porn Website To Comply With Texas Law
After a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Ken Paxton, the operator of “Chaturbate” will put forward guidelines to comply with state age verification laws and is mandated to pay roughly $700,000 to the Texas state government.
Multi Media LLC, the operator of “Chaturbate,” agreed to a settlement with Texas to guarantee that it complies with state age verification laws.
“Chaturbate” is one of the most popular pornography websites on the internet.
On a previous occasion, Paxton sued “Chaturbate” in addition to its parent company on March 19, 2024 because it had not complied with House Bill 1181. This legislation mandates commercial pornography websites to establish “reasonable” verification measures to guarantee that minors are not exposed to pornographic content online.
“Companies violating the age verification requirements required by HB 1181 will be subject to fines of up to $10,000 per day, an additional $10,000 per day if the corporation illegally retains identifying information, and $250,000 if a child is exposed to pornographic content due to not properly verifying a user’s age,” a press release from Paxton’s office that was released on March 21 read.
Other major porn companies similarly violating Texas law that have
“It’s a very positive development that this company has decided to follow the law and begin reasonable age verification measures designed to protect Texas children from harmful material,” Paxton declared in a press release on April 26.
“Other pornography companies should follow this example and willingly choose to do the right thing and abide by the law,” he added.
The agreement stipulates that Multi Media LLC must pay $675,000 to the Texas state government for operating “Chaturbate” without reasonable age verification measures.
This is what prudential state power looks like. Porn is a blight on American society due to its degenerate content that subverts sexual norms and keeps people locked in their homes mindlessly browsing websites when they should be socializing with people in the real world.
