President Donald J. Trump spoke with a gaggle of reporters before journeying to the souther U.S. border Thursday morning, blasting the Democrats for their lackluster approach to border security.
“The Democrats – which I’ve been saying all along – they don’t give a damn about crime,” Trump said emphatically. “They don’t care about crime. They don’t care about gang members coming in and stabbing people and cutting people up. They don’t care about crime. And if they are not going to care about crime then I agree they shouldn’t do anything at the border. But I care about crime. And I care about drugs.”
In his typical fashion, he also told off an NBC reporter who tried to goad him into apologizing to furloughed federal workers who are not getting paid due to the government shutdown.
“Well you know who has more human pain?” Trump asked. “The parents and people who had children killed by an illegal immigrant that should have never been in the country. You know who has more human pain? The husband that lost the wife, or the wife that lost the husband to an illegal immigrant who can in five or six times that shouldn’t be here. That’s the human pain.”
“And by the way, NBC may be – NBC may be the most dishonest reporters of all time,” he finished.
