On Friday, Congressman Eric Swalwell hinted at using “red flag” laws against conservative pundit Ben Shapiro.
Swalwell tweeted, Shapiro is “reason 1,578 America needs red flag laws.”
“Please tell me this lunatic does not own a gun,” Swalwell stated in his tweet.
The failed presidential candidate responded to comments from Shapiro's podcast on Friday. A reporter from Media Matters re-shared the comments, with little attention to the overall context of Shapiro's podcast. In doing so, it made it appear that Shapiro was advocating for an armed insurrection, which many on the Left capitalized on.
It should be noted that Shapiro was not calling for violence. He was only responding to comments made during last Thursday's LGBTQ town hall on CNN.
Shapiro started off by noting the cultural war aspect of this fight:
You want a culture war in this country? You d**n well have it, Beto O’Rourke. You want a culture war in this country? You want this country to come apart at the seams? This is how you do it. Because I promise you: If you come to tell me that you’re going to indoctrinate my kids on a particular policy and that I can’t pull my kid out of the school and send my kid to a school that I want to send them to. That I can’t go to the church or synagogue that I want to go to.
The conservative commentator noted the oppressive nature of O’Rourke’s suggestion that churches should lose their tax-exempt status for not fully complying with pro-LGBTQ standards:
And if you make that national policy, not just California policy where I can move, but national policy? People are not going to stand for that. They are not going to stand for that. And if you send a truant officer to remove my child, I have two choices at that point, right? If I have no place to move because you have now made this national, federal policy.
He then proceeded to highlight what kind of choices he will be left with if this policy becomes nationalized:
I now have two choices: One, is to leave the country utterly. Two is to pick up a gun. Those are the only two choices that you have left me.
“It’s not extreme to defend the fundamental rights the Constitution was created in order to protect,” Shapiro declared. “These rights pre-exist government.”
Red flag laws are the gun control legislation flavor of the week. They allow law enforcement to confiscate firearms from individuals who are deemed to be a threat without any regard for due process protections. 17 states have already passed them.
Interestingly, Shapiro has entertained red flag laws in the past, saying “Red flag laws are a good idea, but they also rely on a measure of public trust and assumption of good faith by your neighbors. Lack of that trust and good faith is being demonstrated daily.”
However, this recent incident goes to show that such legislation will likely be used against right wingers of all stripes.
Certain commentators like Shapiro would be wise to not concede ground to the Left. The modern-day Left is not playing games and they’re constantly trying to shift the goal post towards total state control.
Giving them an inch only makes their work much easier in the long-term.

Bill Gates Believes Everything Won’t be Normal Until there is Widespread Vaccination in America
However, there’s a catch.
Things will not go back to “normal” until the population is “widely vaccinated.”
During an interview with CBS This Morning, that went out on April 2, Gates predicted that people’s concerns about large public gatherings would be alleviated “once we have the vaccination.” This could potentially take 18 months to come about.
“Our foundation works a lot on diagnostics and vaccines,” Gates stated. Vaccine producers are the ones “that can really get things back on track where we’re not worried about large public gatherings.”
In Gates’ view, “there’s a lot of dialog between our foundation experts and the government,” about opening up life to normal activities after the pandemic is under control.
“Which activities, like schools, have such benefit and can be done in a way that the risk of transmission is very low? And which activities, like mass gatherings, may be – in a certain sense – more optional? And so until you’re widely vaccinated, those may not come back at all.”
The Microsoft founder floated 18 months as a possible timeline for a reversion to normalcy.
Gates is a well-known proponent of abortion and population control. He has talked about using vaccines in the past as a means of controlling world’s population.
“Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we lower that [the population] by perhaps 10 or 15 percent,” he said at a 2010 TED conference.
Some parents are obviously concerned about the implications for parental rights, health, or religious freedoms if a vaccine is introduced.
During the CBS interview, Gates claimed that there are currently “seven or more” potential vaccines that could fight the Wuhan Virus pandemic. In order to guarantee that there are billions of doses of the vaccine available right out of the gate, Gates put forward the idea of building factories that would mass produce each of these vaccines as testing is being conducted concurrently.
Gates admitted that “only probably two of the vaccines will be the ones we go ahead with,” conceding that there exist major risks involved in seeing this plan through.
Gates also commented that a national strategy to the Wuhan Virus pandemic is needed, alluding to what he wrote about in a Washington Post op-ed on April 1.
“Because people can travel freely across state lines, so can the virus. The country’s leaders need to be clear: Shutdown anywhere means shutdown everywhere. Until the case numbers start to go down across America – which could take 10 weeks or more – no one can continue business as usual or relax the shutdown,” Gates commented.
In the CBS This Morning interview, Gates stressed the importance of acting quickly after the Wuhan Virus outbreak.
“We understand what needs to be done here. It’s going to be very painful. But taking the pain early means there’s a lot less pain both medically and economically than if we dilly-dally and wait until every town has big numbers before we react.”
Gates said that the Wuhan Virus pandemic will cost trillions of dollars, on top of hundreds of thousands of lives globally when it’s all said and done. “For the next one, we will be far more ready than we were for this one,” he predicted.
As many Americans seek to protect their liberties in a time of uncertainty — as evidenced by the number of people rushing to buy firearms and ammo — globalist oligarchs like Gates are concocting plots to advance crony capitalist projects that will infringe on the rights of millions of Americans.
Gates may have been a great entrepreneur, his politics, on the other hand, are straight out of the globalist playbook.
