Bernie Sanders Doesn’t Think ICE Should Do Their Job

Published

on

2020 presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders declared on CBS’s Face the Nation that is “not appropriate” to deport illegal aliens who have broken American immigration laws.

In response to President Trump’s announcement to crack down on illegal immigration, which entails ICE deporting “millions of illegal aliens”, Sanders pushed back against Trump’s suggestion for stronger enforcement.

Margaret Brennan asked Sanders, “There are ICE raids set to start Sunday morning. Estimates of some 2000 people or so who will be targeted, is this appropriate?”

Sanders then responded, “No, it’s not. It is absolutely not appropriate.”

Brennan poked and prodded Sanders even further:

Specifically on this point, the 2,000 who are supposed to be targeted haven’t should be up for court dates. , they’re not following the asylum process, the legal standard when they’re here. So, should they be prosecuted? Should they be deported?

Sanders pushed back, saying, “I don’t like this deportation thing at all, and I think Trump uses this as a beginning to do worse things to come.”

However, Trump decided to not go through with the raids on Saturday, stating,”I want to give the Democrats every last chance to quickly negotiate simple changes to Asylum and Loopholes.”

He continued:

This will fix the Southern Border, together with the help that Mexico is now giving us. Probably won’t happen, but worth a try. Two weeks and big Deportation begins!

It was later uncovered that the raids might have been pulled back because of leaks originating from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

A Trump administration official commented on this leak:

Leaking the locations and details to stop the operation from happening not only harmed operational integrity, but it put the safety and well-being of his own officers in jeopardy.

The same official added:

The ICE mission is enforcing the nation’s laws and ensuring those who are unlawfully present in the country are removed if ordered by a judge; this will leave an un-erasable mark on his tenure.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez offered her own comments on this immigration drama.

In a tweet, she warned illegal immigrants to watch out for ICE raids across the country.

Warning: The Trump admin is expected to begin ICE raids across the country TOMORROW, targeting people for round up.

As the 2020 elections rapidly approach, we can expect the Left to dial up immigration demagoguery and continue pushing for uncontrolled mass migration.

On February 18, 2020, President Donald Trump announced the pardon of Bernard Kerik, the former NYPD commissioner who spent time in prison for tax fraud and lying to the government.

This news came hours after Trump pardoned Edward DeBartolo Jr., the former San Francisco 49ers owner was convicted in a gambling fraud scandal. DeBartolo Jr. built one of the most successful franchises in NFL history.

Kerik was nominated to be the nation’s head of homeland security on one occasion and spent three years in prison before being released in 2013.

His legal problems spilled over and muddied the political aspirations of other elected officials, such as former Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

While leaving the White House Tuesday afternoon, Trump said he “pardoned” Kerik “a man who had many recommendations from a lot of good people.”

After being pardoned, Kerik went on Twitter to thank the president writing that “there are no words to express my appreciation and gratitude to President Trump. He continued by saying that “with the exception of the birth of my children, today is one of the greatest days in my life.”

Kerik proceed to describe his prison experience as “dying with your eyes open,’ citing the “collateral consequences and the permanent loss of many of your civil and constitutional rights are personally devastating.”

Kerik volunteered to be Giuliani’s chauffeur and provided security during his first unsuccessful run for mayor. Once he secured the mayor’s office in 1993, Giuliani promoted Kerik, a high school dropout, to the highest echelons of New York City government.

The mayor eventually promoted his former bodyguard as the city’s 40th police commissioner in 2001.

Kerik almost became President George Bush’s Homeland Security Secretary in 2004, but he was quickly dropped as a nominee.

Two days afterwards, The Daily News reported that Larry Ray, who had been the best man at Kerik’s wedding, had presented evidence of Kerik failing to report thousands of dollars in gifts he’d received while he was an employee of New York City.
