Biden Police Reform Executive Order Goes Around Congress, Pays Tribute To George Floyd

President Joe Biden just went around congress with his latest police reform executive order. His reasoning for the unilateral decision? Senate Republicans “stood in the way of progress.”

According to the White House, the “George Floyd Justice in Policing Act” was signed on Wednesday afternoon “to advance effective, accountable policing and strengthen public safety.”
Biden also says that this new executive order “will increase accountability, ban chokeholds, restrict no-knock entries, and more for federal law enforcement officers — and it incentivizes state and local officers to do the same.”

It’s worth noting that the order is not intended to take the place of legislation. And more reforms will still need to be addressed in the future.
Vice President Harris spoke during the signing and streamed event, where she shared very brief sympathies for the grieving families that were a part of the tragic shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday.
Her comments to the families were, as expected, short-lived, as it was clear that the VP had more dire topics on her agenda – like attacking the “gun lobby.”
“We must have the courage to stand up to the gun lobby and pass reasonable gun safety laws,” she said.
Harris has been accused of politicizing the Texas shooting too soon, just like how Biden was criticized for this same reason the day prior.
After Harris finished speaking, Biden stepped up to repeat his infamous cannon lie, saying, “the Second Amendment is not absolute.”
“When it was passed, you couldn’t own — you couldn’t own a cannon,” he claimed.
All in all, Biden and Harris basically reiterated the same topics and phrases in both of their speeches. Like the fact that the executive order passed the House under Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s leadership.
And that, to put it simply, Senate Republicans failed to vote the way Democrats wanted them to. Meaning Biden taking the executive order route was necessary and something that “had to be done.”
Other left-wingers have been weighing in on the gun control debate ever since the Texas shooting, arguing that this tragedy needs to be a wake-up call for Americans. Some have even gone as far as to say “Republicans have blood on their hands.”
Former President Obama probably had the most out-of-pocket response:
“As we grieve the children of Uvalde today, we should take time to recognize that two years have passed since the murder of George Floyd under the knee of a police officer,” Obama tweeted. “His killing stays with us all to this day, especially those who loved him.”

Obama, like other Democrats, has done nothing but politicize the Texas tragedy. Using the shooting as an excuse to ram in more progressive policies like this new Joe Biden police reform executive order.
According to Democrats, there’s no time to grieve when there’s a massacre and no time to waste thinking of potential root causes and viable solutions.
But there’s plenty of time to be outraged and demand immediate gun control.
