Border Patrol Overrun With Illegal Aliens, Releasing Them In Tucson

According to a Friday report, U.S. Customs and Border Protection is now dropping illegal aliens directly into Tucson, Arizona, as it lacks space to keep them detained.

“Border Patrol officials have begun releasing migrant families in Tucson because they lack the space to detain them and immigration officials are unable to take them into custody,” AZ Central said. “The practice has been going on for about a month, according to the Border Patrol’s Tucson sector, which covers most of Arizona’s border with Mexico.”

Not only does Border Patrol lack the space to house the illegal aliens, but so does the city of Tucson. According to the report, nonprofits dedicated to housing migrants are overrun.

“The number of migrant families released in Tucson has surpassed the ability of local nonprofits to house them,” the report said. “This past week, the city of Tucson and Pima County opened temporary overflow shelters to house migrants, although those shelters are once again empty, at least for now.”

Border Patrol has not disclosed the exact number of illegal aliens that have been released, but describes the practice as releasing them “on their own recognizance.” As with the normal catch-and-release policy at the border, the migrants are issued a court date to appear before an immigration judge. There is no way to track them, or compel them to show up, once they are released from custody.

Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., gridlock over border security persists.

Big League Politics reported:

President Donald J. Trump has declared a national state of emergency, for which several heavily-blue states immediately sued his administration. Democrats refuse to budge on the issue, unwilling to secure America’s borders. As illegal border crossings surge, they blocked a meaningful amount of wall funding in the 2019 federal budget.

In what many conservatives see as a colossal failure, the Republican Congress, led by former Speaker Paul Ryan, current Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, failed to deliver wall funding to the president’s desk during all of 2017 and 2018, when Republicans held the House, the Senate, and the White House.
