Buffalo Shooter Chose New York Because Gun Laws Meant ‘Civilians Would Be Limited to 10 Round Magazines’

The tragic hate-based mass shooting in Buffalo, New York, this past weekend has renewed some Democratic US lawmakers’ calls for “common sense” firearm safety.

Not to mention more support for gun reform legislation. Even though newly revealed information shows that the shooter specifically chose New York because of its gun-control laws that meant “legally armed civilians would be limited to 10 round magazines.”

This horrific race-based Buffalo shooting is the latest in a string of mass shootings that have occurred in the United States over the past few years. Which have almost always prompted calls for stricter gun control measures from Democrats, while Republicans have largely resisted any changes.

In the wake of this particular shooting, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York called for “common sense” gun reform measures, such as expanding background checks and banning assault weapons.

Gillibrand also called on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to bring gun reform legislation to the floor for a vote.

The White House, while not calling directly for more gun control, stated the following in the wake of the shooting:

“Any act of domestic terrorism, including an act perpetrated in the name of a repugnant white nationalist ideology, is antithetical to everything we stand for in America.”

The WH statement went on: “Hate must have no safe harbor. We must do everything in our power to end hate-fueled domestic terrorism.”

Joel Abbott of Not The Bee had this to say about the Buffalo tragedy over the weekend:

“The tragedy in Buffalo over the weekend is the result of human sin, and the depravity on display shouldn’t be used as a political talking point.”

“This is truly a deranged young man whose mind has been warped into the darkest of places.”

Abbott then went on to showcase Rolling Stone and its distasteful attempt to blame Republicans for the shooting. Referencing a tweet that unapologetically declared that “the Buffalo shooter isn’t a ‘lone wolf.’ He’s a mainstream Republican.” Somehow equating average Americans to blood-thirsty murderers.

Other left-wing talking heads chimed in to cast blame on Fox News and even Tucker Carlson.

As others have rightfully pointed out, where was all this outrage for the Waukesha Christmas massacre when a man drove his car into a parade hospitalizing seven children?

And where were the calls for gun control when the New York subway shooter fired a handgun 33 times on a crowded train leaving 29 people injured, including 10 who were shot?

Those stories were quick to leave the news cycles after emerged evidence showed that those criminals leaned left politically. Now that the Buffalo shooter was accurately linked to white supremacy, Democrats are coming out in full force in demand change.

Of course, we mourn all the lives that were lost because of this tragic event over the weekend, but increased gun laws are not the solution.

Republicans are also not at fault for the inhumane actions of one man.

We will continue to cover this story as more information comes out.
