China and Iran Promise to Strengthen Their Alliance

On July 24, 2023, Wang Yi, head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, held a meeting with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Akbar Ahmadian in Johannesburg.

At this meeting, Wang stated that China is willing to bolster communication and coordination with Iran to implement the important agreements reached by the two foreign policy functionaries and to foster the long-term development of bilateral relations.

Wang said that China will continue backing Iran in protecting its national sovereignty, pursuing  development goals that align with its national interests, and protecting its national security, Wang declared. He also revealed that the Chinese government stands against external interference in Iran’s domestic affairs.

On top of that, the Chinese diplomat said that China is willing to strengthen its cooperation with Iran in enacting the China-Iran comprehensive cooperation plan, promote the Belt and Road initiative, and help Iran improve its people’s quality of life and foster socio-economic development.

As for Ahmadian, he said that Iran believes that his nation’s comprehensive strategic partnership with China is an important project that must be reinforced.

Ahmadian revealed that the Iranian government  appreciates China’s successful  efforts to broker reconciliation between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Additionally he welcomes China’s continued efforts to promote peace in the Middle East.

The Chinese-Iranian partnership will only grow stronger in the multipolar era now that the West is on a crusade to purge the planet of authoritarian countries. US efforts to militarily contain both China and Iran will naturally pact with each other given that they have a shared enemy.
