CNN Terminates ‘Reliable Sources’ Along With Brian Stelter And Staff

Brian Stelter has been FIRED from CNN. Along with the whole staff of his “hyper-partisan” show “Reliable Sources.”

The network’s Oliver Darcy is the only name that will stay, as he will be continuing to lead the “Reliable Sources” newsletter.

“CNN will end its Reliable Sources program on Sunday, August 21st,” a spokesperson for the network said in a statement. “As a result Brian Stelter will leave the company. We appreciate his contributions to the network and wish him well as he embarks on new endeavors.”

As you might expect, conservative Twitter had a field day with this announcement, calling out the Stelter hack for all his terrible reporting over the years.

Not to mention the many, many abysmal claims with no substantial sources that have birthed the nickname “(Un)reliable sources.”

Here are some of the best tweets:

This news comes at a time when not only CNN is hurting, but also legacy outlets as a whole. Thanks to tanking ratings and new alternative media sources that have more credibility than their predecessors.

CNN specifically is seeking “new revenue,” and has even said it would consider extending its brand to China.

This comes after a report from Mediaite over two months ago, which showed Fox News brought in nearly five times the number of viewers compared to CNN. Averaging 2.57 million viewers across prime time and 517,000 respectively.

MSNBC was more popular than CNN too according to the report, with the network’s average of 1.18 million total prime time viewers – which is more than double.

One of the many reasons for Fox’s success has been its ability to succeed in various other marketplaces.

Take Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld, for example, who was just pronounced the new king of late night TV.

According to Forbes, Gutfeld’s late night show averages a total audience of 2.355 million viewers.

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” averages 2.143 million viewers, followed by “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” at 1.318 million viewers.

The Western Journal noted that Gutfeld’s show also led in adults aged 25-54, which is an important demographic group for advertisers.

The week of August 12 was the third week in which Gutfeld has come out on top, the outlet added.

So while Fox News continues to grow, CNN is sounding the alarms and doing all that it can to retain its rapidly depleting audience.
