Corona in Congress: Senate Staffer Tests Positive for Wuhan Virus

A Senate staffer of Washington Senator Maria Cantwell has been diagnosed with the Chinese coronavirus. The news of the diagnoses broke on Wednesday night.

The individual isolated themselves after starting to experience some symptoms associated with the condition.

A press release from the Senator’s office confirmed that “on the advice of the Attending Physician, the senator has closed her Washington, D.C. office this week for deep cleaning and staff will be teleworking.

Washington, the state which Cantwell represents, is the hardest-affected US state by the virus. A majority of deaths from the disease in the country have occurred in the Pacific Northwest state.
