Defense Department Admits That It Can’t Calculate Diversity Training Costs

According to a Daily Caller report, the Defense Department informed Congress that it could not publish a mandated accounting of diversity training to Congress because it didn’t have sufficient people working in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) positions.

Congress required the Pentagon to draw up a report highlighting how much the United States military spent on diversity training, salaries for DEI bureaucrats, and any effects on recruiting and retention that it had across the force, per the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This report was initially due on March 1.

The NDAA generally sets defense policy for the next fiscal year.

However, the Pentagon is nearly two months behind the due date for the report after the NDAA for fiscal year 2024 cut the salaries of DEI staff, effectively downsizing the departments.

“This report is delayed due to lack of DEI manning. We do not have an estimated completion date at this time,” a legislative spokesperson.  representing the Department of Defense (DOD) before Congress said in correspondence that the Daily Caller was able to get its hands on. Indiana Congressman Jim Banks, who is the chair of the House Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee, said to the Daily Caller that the response demonstrated the Defense Department is “simply covering up Joe Biden’s politicization of our military.”

The 2024 NDAA placed a cap on the yearly salaries for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) administrators at $70,000, which means the majority of officials will have to find other forms of employment or deal with difficult touch cuts in their compensation, per data from the Defense Department’s personnel office that was sent to Missouri Senator Eric Schmidt. It also barred the Pentagon from carrying out hiring campaigns for DEI-centered roles until Congress received the results of an audit of all DOD offices and programs.

“The Biden DOD spends over a hundred million dollars a year on DEI, but apparently they don’t have enough DEI staff to provide the House Armed Services Committee with a simple report about how they’re using all their money. It’s ridiculous,” Banks said to the Daily Caller.

The Defense Department is currently  working on the report “and will provide the information once completed,” a spokesperson said to the Daily Caller on April 23, 2024.

DEI has become a cancer in US politics and is starting to become a boondoggle across the board as government agencies have embraced these programs. This has diminished the quality of devices provided and has ballooned costs across the board.

DEI is just an accelerant for institutional decline as incompetent people get staffed into key government positions and receive large amounts of unmerited compensation. If this is unchecked, the US will rapidly deteriorate and become another hollowed out civilization.
