Dem Judiciary Committee Member’s ‘Sole Focus’ is Stopping Trump’s Reelection
A Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee says his “sole focus” is preventing President Donald J. Trump from winning reelection in 2020.
House Judiciary Committee Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA) says it is his responsibility and his “sole focus right now is to make sure that he is not the president next term,” and described this as not just his personal goal, but the goal of the House Judiciary Committee.
“What we do this term, we need to one, learn from the facts learn what Russia did, make sure the president has not obstructed justice,” said Richmond, “But more importantly, we need to make sure that he does not win reelection.”
He then went on to endorse former vice president Joe Biden, who launched his 2020 campaign to become the Democrat nominee for president based on a vile lie about President Trump’s remarks after the Charlottesville riot of 2017.
Richmond also rebuffed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has said repeatedly that the House should not consider impeaching President Trump without bipartisan support. No Republicans support impeaching the president, and Pelosi herself has suggested this is a nonstarter.
When asked by the reporter whether he thinks impeachment should be considered, Richmond replied, “I think it should,” adding, “I think it’s the best way to get all the facts out. I also believe that at some point we have to hear from this president, whether he’s lying to us or not, we have to hear from him under oath.”
This comes at a time when a record low number of Americans support impeaching President Trump, who has been completely exonerated and vindicated with the release of the redacted Mueller report, that shows he neither colluded with Russia nor impeded Mueller’s investigation.
