Democrat House Introducing Legislation To Pack 4 Justices on Supreme Court

As hinted at constantly during the 2020 presidential campaign, the Democrats appear to be moving forward with their promise (and sometimes denial) to pack the Supreme court of the United States, starting with legislative proposals from the House Democrats.

The desired change involves adding 4 new Justices, which would bring the total from 9 to 13.

This comes very quickly after Joe Biden just several days ago launched a taxpayer-funded 180 day commission to study the effects of court packing, which according to the White House will be run as “a bipartisan group of experts on the Court and the Court reform debate.” The study will be led by Bob Bauer, and Cristina Rodriguez, both of whom are former high-ranking partisans who served under the Obama administration.

There was a time when Biden stood in strong opposition to court packing, back in 1983. In a rebuke of Democrat Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s attempt to pack the Supreme Court, Biden argued “it was a bonehead idea. It was a terrible, terrible mistake to make. And it put in question, if for an entire decade, the independence of the most significant body … in this country, the Supreme Court of the United States of America.”

Nowadays, Biden’s stance is much less clear. From the recent establishment of his commission, his statement on the campaign trail that voters do not deserve to know his position on the issue, and impending legislative efforts by the Democrat-run House, many have drawn doubts on whether Biden still holds the same cautious view.

“Sir, I’ve got to ask you about packing the courts and I know you said yesterday you aren’t going to answer the question until after the election, but this is the number one thing that I’ve been asking about from viewers in the past couple of days,” the reporter said to Biden.

“Well, you’ve been asked by the viewers who are probably Republicans who don’t want me continuing to talk about what they’re doing to the court right now,” Biden responded.

“Well sir, don’t the voters deserve to know—” the reporter pressed.

“No, they don’t,” Biden responded.

Such is the Democratic view of voters and the people. Despite Biden’s obfuscation, as candidate and as president, recent actions speak loud and clear about Democrats’ desires to pack the high court.
