A Democrat member of the House of Representatives is encouraging critics to give Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring, who admitted to wearing blackface at a party in the 1980’s, a pass for his racist actions.
“I think it’s more about values,” said Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “We would move from a progressive, very strong attorney general to someone who’s not just a Republican but someone who’s on the arch-conservative end of it.”
In other words, Republican values, which do not include wearing blackface, are still worse than progressive values, which do include wearing blackface. At least the Democratic Party is finally showing its true colors. It never really cared about “social justice” or “political correctness,” or any of the other crap it has been shoving down the throats of unwilling Americans for decades. All it cares about is power. In this case, it is willing to give racism a pass in order to keep power.
The entire Virginia Democratic Party was thrust into chaos two weeks ago when Big League Politics published a photo showing Gov. Ralph Northam wearing blackface or a KKK robe from his medical school yearbook. Days later, we published allegations of sexual assault made be Dr. Vanessa Tyson against Virginia’s Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax stemming from an incident at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Subsequently, a woman named Meredith Watson accused Fairfax of raping her during their time as students at Duke University.
Finally, Herring, third in the line of succession of the top elected officials in Virginia, admitted to wearing blackface at a fraternity party in 1980, getting ahead of the curve in case any photos of that event surfaced.
None of the men have resigned. Instead, the media has all but ceased coverage on the controversy, shifting the narrative instead to Confederate statues, which apparently Northam will tear down and move to museums in an effort to make up for his past racism.
