Denver Mayor Forced to Declare Emergency After Getting Rocked by Illegal Alien Invasion
On December 15, 2022, the city of Denver declared a state of emergency in response to a massive influx of illegal aliens that allegedly came from the southern border, largely from El Paso, Texas.
According to a report by Katabella Roberts at The Epoch Times, Mayor Michael Hancock issued the emergency declaration as several hundred illegal aliens, predominantly from Central and South America, arrived last week.
“Let me be frank: This influx of migrants, the unanticipated nature of their arrival, and our current space and staffing challenges have put an immense strain on city resources to the level where they’re on the verge of reaching a breaking point at this time,” Hancock announced during a news conference on December 15.
“What I don’t want to see is a local humanitarian crisis of unsheltered migrants on our hands because of a lack of resources,” Hancock continued.
Per Hancock’s office, over 900 aliens have arrived in Denver during the last several months, which includes over 600 people since December 2.
An additional 247 aliens landed in Denver since December 12, 2022 alone. On top of that, 75 arrived at a local homeless shelter on the evening of December 15, according to his office.
Roughly 404 aliens are currently being housed in Denver’s emergency shelters, which includes 102 at church and non-profit shelter sites.
In light of this massive illegal immigration influx, Hancock declared that Denver is currently “at the level where we are on the verge of reaching breaking point at this time.”
“The declaration is another tool in the toolbox to help serve the increasing number of migrants arriving in Denver, particularly as winter weather sets in,” Hancock stated.
Roberts noted that the city of Denver has already spent over $800,000 on the illegal alien housing effort. This figure is projected to increase substantially.
Per Hancock, the majority of aliens landing in Denver hail from Venezuela. The South American country’s economic and political crisis has compelled millions of Venezuelans to go to countries like the United States for a better life.
“It is at a crisis point right now and cities all over this country are being forced to deal with something we’re not equipped to deal with,” he stated.
Hancock’s declaration came on the heels of the termination of the Title 42 order, which former President Donald Trump issued, which gave Border Patrol agents the power to expel illegal aliens entering the US if they were determined to be a health threat during the Wuhan virus pandemic.
Title 42 will effectively end on December 21. Denver is a thoroughly progressive city. In 2020, Denver County went 80% to 18% Joe Biden. In addition, Denver is a sanctuary city. In many respects, the city is getting its just desserts for rolling with the progressive open borders agenda.
Mass migration coupled with rising crime will soon make America’s once illustrious cities inhospitable.
