DISGRACE: Mitch McConnell Backstabs Trump, Making Impeachment Case for Democrats Before Voting to Acquit

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) excoriated President Donald Trump on Saturday, implying that Trump will be getting prosecuted for his presidential behavior, despite voting to acquit Trump in the illegal impeachment trial.
“This was an intensifying crescendo of conspiracy theories orchestrated by an outgoing president who seemed determined to either overturn the voters’ decision or else torch our institutions on the way out,” McConnell said, spitting in the faces of thousands of conservatives who witnessed first-hand fraud on election day.
“There is no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day,” he continued.
“These criminals were carrying his banners, hanging his flags and screaming their loyalty to him,” he added.
McConnell is echoing Democrat talking points referring to Republicans as criminals and terrorists.
“Having that belief,” McConnell said, “was a foreseeable consequence of the growing crescendo of false statements, conspiracy theories and reckless hyperbole which the defeated president kept shouting into the largest megaphone on planet earth.”
“They did this,” he added, “because they’d been fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on earth, because he was angry he lost an election.”
McConnell even made a comment expressing sympathy with prosecuting Trump for actions taken during his presidency and said he probably would have voted to impeach if Trump were still the president.
“If President Trump were still in office,” he said, “I would have carefully considered whether the House managers proved their specific charge.”
“President Trump is still liable for everything he did while in office,” he said. “He didn’t get away with anything yet. We have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil litigation,” he added.
McConnell publicly congratulated the Senate for ignoring widespread voter fraud and rubber-stamping perhaps the greatest crime in U.S. history.
“It simply says that senators did what the former president failed to do. We put our constitutional duty first,” he said. “The leader of the free world cannot spend weeks thundering that shadowy forces are stealing our country and then feign surprise.”
McConnell is likely angry that his gambit to destroy President Trump did not work, and the Republicans who voted to convict Trump will likely be driven out of office in disgrace in the months to come. Trump is already taking his second acquittal as a victory and intends to complete his MAGA revolution regardless of McConnell’s blathering.
“Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun,” Trump said in a statement following his acquittal.
“In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people. There has never been anything like it! We have so much work ahead of us, and soon we will emerge with a vision for a bright, radiant and limitless American future,” he added.
The GOP establishment has been exposed and their own constituents may despise them more than they despite the Democrats at this point. McConnell will be remembered as one of the worst cowards in American political history.
