Donald Trump Dominates Iowa Youth Straw Poll, Winning 55% to 32% Over Biden

Donald Trump secured a victory in Iowa’s Youth Straw Poll, with Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announcing the results of the informal contest on Friday.

Trump won 55% of 31,000 participating students who attend 225 different schools across the state of Iowa. Biden won only 32%, with dark horse candidate Kanye West winning 9% of the straw poll vote.

The poll also questioned students as to Iowa’s Senate election, with incumbent Republican senator Joni Ernst winning 53% support. Democrat Theresa Greenfield won 38%.

This is a fun, hands-on learning experience that hopefully will create a lifelong interest in civics and elections for these students,” Secretary Pate said. “My thanks to everyone who participated and the teachers and school leaders across the state for organizing this event.

Democrats have expressed increasing confidence that they’re on the verge of winning Texas, Iowa, Ohio and other historically Republican states. If young voters vote for President Trump in anything close to the margin seen in the straw poll, they can frankly kiss such a prospect goodbye. Trump would win Iowa by a margin never before seen in the state if he secures 55% of Generation Z voters. However, the high school audience that participated in the poll didn’t query millennial voters.

There’s evidence to suggest that Trump has increased the appeal of the Republican Party to young voters, especially with Democrat Joe Biden doubling down on a campaign strategy of almost exclusively marketing his candidacy to traditionally conservative white senior voters.
