EQUALITY: Tennessee Legislation Would Give Discretion to Fathers Regarding Abortions

Two Tennessee state legislators have introduced legislation that would allow a father to file an injunction against the pregnant mother to stop him from ending the baby’s life.

State senator Mark Pody (R) filed SB0494 in the state senate while state representative Jerry Sexton (R) introduced HB1079 in the state house. The legislation would permit “a person to petition a court for an injunction to prohibit a woman who is pregnant with the person’s unborn child from obtaining an abortion.”

Additionally, the legislation gives the petitioner the ability “to execute a voluntary acknowledgement of paternity that is not subject to being rescinded or challenged.”

“If he can prove to the courts that he is the father, the biological father, then he has rights to what’s going on with his son or daughter,” Pody said, as reported by FOX 17 News.

FOX 17 News issued a poll to gauge the support of the measure and it is practically deadlocked, showing how equality is shamefully rejected by much of the masses:

Leftist special interest groups are outraged at the notion, calling this push for true equality an attack on women’s rights.

“This unconstitutional legislation demonstrates the condescending mindset underlying this bill: that men should control women’s bodies,” ACLU of Tennessee Executive Director Hedy Weinberg said in a statement. “Women are not chattel and this bill needs to be stopped in its tracks.”

“This extreme and dangerous bill would even allow a rapist to stop his victim from ending a pregnancy,” Weinberg added.

Abortion proponents are inventing absurd hypotheticals in an attempt to deny basic equality for fathers. Planned Parenthood wants to protect its very lucrative fetal chop shop racket, after all.

“A pregnant person must have the ultimate control over their body and their pregnancy. The legislature needs to stop trying to distract the public from their leadership failures with increasingly stigmatizing abortion restrictions,” said Francie Hunt, who works as the executive director of Tennessee Advocates for Planned Parenthood.

“Nobody should have the power to make health care decisions for someone else — not a judge, a partner, and certainly not a rapist regardless of paternity,” Hunt added.

It turns out that feminists and social justice warriors don’t really want equality. They only want freedom from responsibility, which includes the “right” to murder a baby in the womb. This legislation in Tennessee evens the score and more states should consider similar measures secure to men’s rights.
