EXCLUSIVE: Carter Page: It’s Possible That Stefan Halper Set Me Up To Spy On Me

Former President Donald Trump campaign adviser Carter Page tells Big League Politics that it is possible longtime intelligence operative Stefan Halper set him up to be an unwitting spy for the FBI within the Trump campaign.

“We’ll see,” Carter Page told Big League Politics when asked about Stefan Halper setting him up, noting that he does not know yet whether Halper set him up or not.

“Various news reports,” Page noted, underscoring his suspicions about Halper, but “I’m not directly aware of anything out of place.”

Stefan Halper is a longtime operative who worked for Nixon, Ford and Reagan and now runs the American politics department at the University of Cambridge.

Insiders including Big League Politics source Chuck Marler, a former Robert Mueller deputy in the FBI Special Surveillance Group and a Muller case whistleblower, and others in national security believe that Halper was the man who set up Page and George Papadopoulos, a peripheral Trump campaign volunteer who sat in on at least one foreign policy meeting involving Russia.

How? Halper invited both Carter Page and Papadopoulos to England during the campaign, for unclear and undefined reasons. To be clear, Page has always been open about the fact that he has never met Donald Trump. Halper luring Page and Papadopoulos into conversational traps could have triggered minor warrants that helped to surveil the entire Trump campaign, as we explain more below.

Page was reported to have been an FBI undercover agent at one time helping to snare Russian spies, in 2016 shortly before joining the Trump campaign, but he denied that he matches the description of the undercover agent that is believed to be him.

Page said that he met Halper at a July 11-12 “Race To Change The World” conference with Madeleine Albright in Cambridge at the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CRASSH).

Page is aware of the recent New York Times report that the FBI had internal spies in the Trump campaign (we reported that George Papadopoulos was being monitored in real time by the FBI). But there is more stuff coming.

“The other story the same authors have been working on is going to be much bigger, once the full truth comes out,” Page tells BLP, referring to the New York Times.

Page also told Big League Politics that he was under constant surveillance, just like Papadopoulos, saying, ”

Clarice Feldman reports for American Thinker:

“… there was collusion between certain members of the U.S. and British intelligence communities to spy on the Trump campaign. This may explain, in large part, the reluctance of the Department of Justice to reveal what it knows publicly. After all – with rare exceptions – the two countries’ intelligence services have long had important information gathering and sharing agreements, and exposure of this may harm the traditional reciprocal relationship.

And that the likely suspect is shadowy Stefan Halper…

… someone who worked with U.S. and apparently British intelligence, with a record of trying to spy on lowly campaign workers and even trick them into compromising actions, a U.S. citizen with strong ties to British intelligence who lived in the U.K.: Stefan Halper, a former advisor to three Republican presidents (and therefore, had perfect cover), a Cambridge Fellow, who, as we detail, interacted with various Trump campaign workers ostensibly to assist them. On November 3, 2016, he publicly stated that Hillary would be the best option for U.S.-U.K. relations. It’s reasonable to assume, therefore, that the “help” was not for the Trump campaign, but for Hillary.

“I believe [Hillary] Clinton would be best for US-UK relations and for relations with the European Union. Clinton is well-known, deeply experienced and predictable. US-UK relations will remain steady regardless of the winner although Clinton will be less disruptive over time,” Halper, who served as deputy assistant secretary of state for political-military affairs and senior adviser to the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice, said.

Here’s how Halper “helped” the Trump campaign from publicly available information:
On July 16, 2016 he invited Carter Page to a Cambridge symposium

On September 11, 2016 he met with a senior Trump official

On September 13-16 he met with Papadopoulos.

Halper is a close associate of former MI6 head Richard Dearlove, who in a recent video interview, cagily refused to acknowledge the veracity of the Steele dossier.

It was previously reported that Halper had conducted a data-gathering operation to collect inside information on Jimmy Carter’s foreign policy during the 1980 campaign, a charge he strongly denied. But if that charge were true, he certainly had experience in such things.
If Halper was not a person we’d consider a mole in the campaign, as he never was actually part of the campaign team – just someone trying to fish for dirt (or lure people like Page and Papadopoulos into some compromising acts) – why the weasel description in the report Nunes is examining?”

American Thinker passage ends

It is amazing to note how much surveillance that Papodoupolos was under, which is similar to the constant surveillance that Halper’s other guest Carter Page was under.

Former FBI Special Surveillance Group member and Robert Mueller case whistleblower Chuck Marler explains the situation for Big League Politics:

“In the “August 2017” Senate Testimony of Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS, it confirmed that he was told by Christopher Steele that he learned from FBI Agents that they had a source in the Trump Campaign. Steele had told Simpson this in September of 2016. The “Affidavit in Support of Criminal Complaint” filed in July 2017 by an FBI Agent against George Papadopoulos unwittingly shows that the FBI was monitoring Papadopoulos’ communications in real time.

The affidavit goes into great detail to show the Judge that Papadopoulos obstructed justice by deleting his Facebook Account on February 17, 2017. The affidavit alleges that Papadopoulos lied to FBI agents when he was interviewed on February 16, 2017. The agent in the affidavit claims to have determined this by reviewing emails and Facebook messages from Papadopoulos to the contrary. The affidavit states that the communications were obtained by a “judicially authorized search warrant”. The affidavit alleges Papadopulos was communicating with Foreign Contacts when he became a member of the Trump Campaign in March of 2016. The affidavit details fragments of communications with “Foreign Contacts”.

It should be noted that emails can be reviewed in real time or from stored data. Facebook data is deleted 14 to 90 days after the deletion of an account.”

The affidavit references Papadopoulos emails from as far back as April 18, 2016 but the affidavit only has Papadopoulos Facebook messages starting from July 15, 2016. The Affidavit states that Papadopoulos had that Facebook account since August of 2005 and only deleted in February of 2017. It’s obvious from Facebook’s own policy that they delete the information within 14 to 90 days. The FBI would have only been able to retrieve the old Facebook messages from the Foreign Contacts account or from monitoring Papadopoulos’ account live. It is obviously the latter because if it was from the Foreign Contact they would have had more that the exact starting data of the Russia Investigation in July of 2016.

Yes, the Democratic Party President spied on his Republican opposition during a Presidential Campaign. Why didn’t the top brass of the FBI or the Obama administration inform Trump about their concerns with Papadopoulos or Carter Page? They didn’t think he would win and they wanted an insurance policy in case he did! Also did the FBI monitor the communications of Papadopoulos’ boss Sam Clovis?”
