FDA Bars Florida From Using Monoclonal Antibody Treatments

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) closed Florida’s monoclonal antibody treatment sites Monday after the federal government suddenly removed the treatments from the list of ‘Emergency Use Authorizations.’
The Florida Department of Health was not pleased with the FDA’s decision and released a statement on Monday evening condemning their counterproductive actions.
“This evening, without any advanced notice, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revised the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA)…The revised EUAs do not allow providers to administer these treatments within the United States,” the statement reads.
“Unfortunately, as a result of this abrupt decision made by the federal government, all monoclonal antibody state sites will be closed until further notice… Florida disagrees with the decision that blocks access to any available treatments in the absence of clinical evidence.”
This is not the first time that both Democrats and officials in the administrative state alike have attempted to play politics with the lives of the American people. It was just last September when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had previously slammed the Biden administration for withholding monoclonal antibody treatments from the state, telling Floridians at the time he would get the treatments “come hell or high water.”
Perhaps not surprisingly, Governor DeSantis blasted the Biden regime once again for their recent decision.
“Without a shred of clinical data to support this action, Biden has forced trained medical professionals to choose between treating their patients or breaking the law,” DeSantis said in a statement. “This indefensible edict takes treatment out of the hands of medical professionals and will cost some Americans their lives. There are real-world implications to Biden’s medical authoritarianism – Americans’ access to treatments is now subject to the whims of a failing president.”
The HHS pushed back on the governor, treating the entire situation in a manner that some may consider flippant.
“Why is Gov. DeSantis more interested in promoting medicines that don’t work than urging people to take vaccines that do?” sneered HHS spokesman Ian Sams.
“Any comment as to why Florida is receiving 21,000 doses of an ineffective therapeutic, @IanSams?” asked Florida Department of Health spokesperson Jeremy Redfern in a post directed at the HHS representative.
