FLASHBACK: Obama Administration Pressured Ukraine to Drop Investigation of George Soros Group in 2016

As House Democrats promulgate a fake Ukrainian crisis involving President Donald Trump, the evidence shows that members of the Obama administration are the ones who really ought to be investigated.

Investigative journalist John Solomon revealed earlier this year how the Obama administration used its power to coerce Ukraine into dropping an investigation of a George Soros front group in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election.

Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, who recently testified against President Trump before Congress, reportedly handed Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko a list of individuals who should not be prosecuted. It included the leader of the Anti-Corruption Action Centre (AntAC), which is a Soros-backed front group that was being investigated for the misappropriation of U.S. funds.

“At the time, Ms. Ambassador thought our interviews of the Ukrainian citizens, of the Ukrainian civil servants who were frequent visitors in the U.S. Embassy, could cast a shadow on that anti-corruption policy,” Lutsenko said.

“We ran right into a buzzsaw and we got bloodied,” a senior Ukrainian official said to Solomon about the entire affair.

Obama’s state department claimed that they were protecting a group that was promoting anti-corruption reforms, and denies any nefarious agenda behind their policy to protect the group. However, they did admit the peculiarity of the request.

“We’re not normally in the business of telling a country’s police force who they can and can’t pursue, unless it involves an American citizen we think is wrongly accused,” an official said.

The Obama administration’s policies were ultimately successful in protecting AntAC, which remains active to this day and continues to agitate on behalf of Soros in the Ukraine.

Solomon also noted that the Obama administration outsourced federal work to Soros groups. After the Obama Department of Justice (DOJ) announced their Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative to supposedly root out corruption throughout the world, the FBI, DOJ and State Department brought Soros-backed groups on board as their partner.

AntAC has received $1 million of its $1.7 million annual budget through federal welfare. They also receive $290,000 annually from Soros’s International Renaissance Foundation. This is no secret collaboration, at least to observers in Ukraine. Prominent DOJ officials and FBI agents have regularly appeared at conferences and events sponsored by Soros.

The FBI admits that Karen Greenaway, who once worked as the FBI’s supervisor in charge of international fraud cases and played a key role in the railroading of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, had intimate ties to the AntAC group while she was working with the bureau.

“In furtherance of the FBI’s mission and in the course of their duties, FBI employees routinely travel and participated in public forums in an official capacity. At a minimum, all such travel and speaking engagements are authorized by the employee’s direct supervisor and can receive further authorization all the way up to the relevant division head, along with an ethics official determination,” they said.

After her retirement from the FBI, Greenaway was put on the supervisory board of AntAC. The Obama administration’s ties to Soros and their undue influence in Ukraine is the real scandal, while President Trump’s non-existent quid pro quo is little more than fake news meant to fuel an unprecedented witch hunt.
