NORTH DAKOTA: Clear Contrast Between Term Limits Champion Rick Becker and Term Limits Enemy Julie Fedorchak

On February 15, 2024, Julie Fedorchak, a member of North Dakota’s three-member Public Service Commission, announced her decision to run for North Dakota’s only congressional seat.

Although her campaign website boasts Fedorchak’s abilities as a “problem solver” and “a leader who will bring a commonsense approach to Washington DC,” one facet of her track record should make voters concerned.

In early October, several state officials in North Dakota, Fedorchak included, signed a letter attacking North Dakota Constitutional Measure 1 — a ballot initiative that established two four-year term limits for the governor and eight-year terms for both the State House and State Senate.

Subsequently on October 18, 2022, Fedorchak commented on an InForum reporter’s  X post, saying “A testament to our citizen legislature. Vote no on Term Limits!”

Despite Fedorchak and her colleagues’ opposition to the ballot initiative, North Dakota voters overwhelmingly supported Constitutional Measure 1 by a 63%-37% margin.

On the other hand, former state Representative and Chairman of End Unfair Property Tax, Rick Becker, has taken a firm stance in favor of term limits, as evidenced by  a press release he published on January 29, 2024.

Becker is the only pro-liberty candidate with a strong track record in the State House from 2012 to 2022 and a commitment to advancing limited government in the race for North Dakota’s only congressional seat.

For North Dakota GOP primary voters on June 11, 2024, Becker is the best limited government option.
