Presiding Democrat G.K. Butterfield of North Carolina declared “The ayes have it” before holding an actual roll call vote on the latest Democrat bill to fund the federal government without building a border Wall.
Democrats passed the spending bill through a voice vote, and Butterfield’s position was that nobody on the House floor declared a roll count. Steve Scalise stood up to the ploy, saying that a roll call vote was in fact requested.
Democrat Steny Hoyer plans to do the vote over next week, on Wednesday, January 23. Mitch McConnell is not taking up any bills in the Senate that President Trump will not sign, because the Democrats’ time-wasting bills do not fund the border Wall. The latest bill tries to open up the government through February 28. The shutdown continues.
