Florida Appeals Court Approves Gov. Desantis’ Mask Mandate Ban

Florida’s ban on mask mandates in schools is back on for the time being.
A Florida appeals court ruled Friday that a lower judge should not have halted enforcement of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ mask mandate ban, restoring his push to punish school districts who enforce face coverings.
“1st District Court of Appeals just granted the State of Florida’s request to reinstate the stay — meaning, the rule requiring ALL Florida school districts to protect parents’ rights to make choices about masking kids is BACK in effect!” DeSantis’ spokesperson Christina Pushaw wrote in a tweet.
The decision from the First District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee means the state can impose financial penalties, such as cutting salaries of local school board members, on the 13 school districts that are continuing to force masks on schoolchildren.
Desantis has argued his Parents Bill of Rights law was created so that parents can choose if their kids wear a mask to class — not bureaucratic school officials.
Other Republican politicians in Florida fighting medical tyranny include State Rep. Anthony Sabatini, a 30-year-old Republican representing House District 32. Sabatini recently took action in Congress, submitting a draft for a bill that aims to nullify Biden’s forthcoming vaccine mandate by going as far as to arrest and prosecute any federal agent caught imposing the mandate under state law.
“Today I submitted a Bill (bill draft #79925) which will NULLIFY Biden’s forthcoming vaccine mandate,” began the post. “ANY federal employee in Florida imposing the mandate will be arrested and prosecuted under Florida state law. EVERY Florida Republican must take a stand and support this Bill!”
Charles Gallagher, a man who represents a group of parents fighting for forced masking in schools, wrote on Twitter he is “disappointed” by the appeals court decision.
“With a stay in place, students, parents and teachers are back in harm’s way,” Gallagher wrote.
Governor Ron DeSantis’ popularity with conservatives in Florida and much of the United States remains high broadly, with many speculating that he may make a run for President in 2024. Desantis has dismissed such claims, saying that ‘speculation about a potential run is purely manufactured’ and that he is just doing his job.
