Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna Wants Congress Members to Fight In Ukraine If They Support $60 Billion Military Aid Bill

Florida Congressman Anna Paulina Luna recently called for members of the United States Congress to fight in Ukraine if they end up backing a $60 billion military aid bill to Ukraine.

This bill was first acquired by DailyMail.com. It has the ostensive aim of requiring “Members of Congress who advocate for providing military support for Ukraine to enlist in the armed forces and to serve on active duty in support of a contingency operation.”

The US government has doled out north of $75 billion in military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine since Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Luna’s bill was introduced in response to an MSNBC interview Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer gave where he engaged in hyperbolic fearmongering about the war in Ukraine potentially expanding. He contended that without Ukraine serving as a sacrificial lamb against Russia, US forces would be directly fighting Russia in Eastern Europe, where a large number of NATO member nations are located

‘If we don’t aid Ukraine, Putin will walk all over Ukraine, we will lose the war, and we could be fighting in Eastern Europe in a NATO ally in a few years. Americans won’t like that,’ Schumer proclaimed.

The Senators Can Help Underpin Military Engagement and Readiness Act (the SCHUMER Act) would require elected officials who call for military aid to be assigned no “fewer than six months to active duty in support of a contingency operation.’

“In honor of Chuck Schumer, I’ll be introducing a bill that will require any politician who advocates for sending American troops to Ukraine to be required to fight on the front lines with them,”

Luna declared on Twitter following Schumer’s interview.

This legislation comes at a time when the Senate is mulling on how to proceed with aid to US allies after efforts to pass a bipartisan immigration bill stalled out. The bill in question combined military aid for Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine in addition to border security measures.

For many Republicans, the border security measures put forward in this bill did not go far enough.

Ultimately, politicians who constantly push for war should be compelled to fight in the very conflicts they push for. The lack of skin in the game among America’s political class, is quite telling.

Harsh measures will need to be implemented so that they can feel the same pain they usually subject the rest of the populace to.
