German Chancellor Claims NATO Is Not and Will Not Be Involved in Ukrainian Conflict

On February 28, 2024, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is not and will not be a party to the Russo-Ukrainian conflict.
“NATO is not – and will not be – a party to the war. It will continue to be this way,” Scholz declared in a video that he posted on his X page. “We do not want Russia’s war against Ukraine to turn into a war between Russia and NATO. We agree on this with all our allies.”
“This also means: no German participation in the war!” the chancellor added.
“And I will say clearly: as German chancellor, I will not send Bundeswehr soldiers to Ukraine. This is something our servicemen can rely on. And you can rely on it,” Scholz stated.
He said that Germany, along with its allies in NATO and the European Union are ramping up their support for Ukraine. Above all, he stated that the Ukrainian military currently needs ammunition and weapons for the purpose of maintaining a robust air defense structure.
“I have discussed this intensively with our partners over the last few weeks. Many have realized this,” the chancellor stated.
The German leader’s comments came after French President Emmanuel Macron declared that the concept of sending Western military units to Ukraine should be an option on the table.
On February 28, German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit told reporters that Scholz was skeptical about Macron’s idea.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova has stressed that the presence of Western military units in Ukraine in any form would lead to further escalation. No matter what Scholz and the satraps within NATO say, the military alliance is a party to this conflict.
Its deployment of military aid to Ukraine already makes it a party to this conflict.
Any further deployment of aid to Ukraine will lead to its inevitable destruction, as Russia, with its superior manpower and overall resources, will ramp its military efforts and seek to destroy the Ukrainian state.
If policymakers genuinely want peace, they must halt the deployment of military aid to Ukraine.
