Due in large part to the lack of intelligence of the people attempting them, certain hate hoaxes have backfired spectacularly in the public eye. Jussie Smollett, the third-rate actor, was caught red-handed staging a faux-lynching and became a national punchline as a result. But until one week ago, there had not been a major public official with the audacity to attempt a hate hoax. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, who Big League Politics has exposed for wearing blackface during his drunken college days, deployed the tactic in his own state capitol in an attempt to put down a growing pro-2nd Amendment resistance.
Northam is still atoning for embracing racism in his youth, and the people of Virginia are being forced to pay for the sins of his past bigotry. He has led an unprecedented gun control push this year, with a myriad of infringements coming from the now solidly blue state government. They include a firearm registry, red flag laws, background checks for all gun sales and transfers, a confiscation of so-called assault rifles, a partial ban on private gun ranges, and many others. Northam’s overreach has sparked palpable resistance with many localities uniting against his intolerable acts throughout the state. County sheriffs have announced their refusal to comply.
“If the bills go through as proposed, they will not be enforced — they’re unconstitutional,” said Sheriff Richard Vaughan of Grayson County. “We swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Virginia, and that’s what we’ll do.”
“I’m the first, and I might be the only sheriff who said from the beginning, my intent was [not] to not enforce laws duly enacted, my intent was to swear in thousands of deputy sheriffs and make it legal for them to possess weapons that they’re trying to ban and restrict,” said Sheriff Scott Jenkins, who represents Culpeper County.
Gov. Northam had inadvertently kicked off a righteous uprising that was set to flex its muscle during the annual lobby day event at the Capitol, so something had to be done to bottle up patriotic sentiment. He defaulted to the hate hoax in order to hearken back to the Charlottesville nightmare of 2017. The alcohol-fueled bluster of a few extremists was used an excuse to lock down the Capitol. A state of emergency was called, and rally attendees were effectively stripped of their 2nd Amendment rights. The media ran with the narrative, with high profile media figures referring to it as a white nationalist rally. Northam behaved in such a manner that it was almost like he was hoping to spark a violent incident to fulfill his own prophecy and promote his Draconian anti-gun legislation.
Unfortunately for Northam, he did not get the reaction that he wanted at the Capitol rally. He was met by an enormous group of jovial patriots who braved the elements and resisted the threats from Democrats to show en masse. Although some may have skipped the rally due to fears of a set-up, tens of thousands of happy warriors still attended and were unfazed in the wake of Northam’s tyrannical actions. The only person arrested at the event was a masked left-wing activist, and the patriots cleaned up after themselves before they departed. Following the event, Northam actually had the audacity to take credit for keeping the peace when in actuality he did everything imaginable to exacerbate tensions.
“We are all thankful that today passed without incident. The teams successfully de-escalated what could have been a volatile situation. This resulted from weeks of planning and extensive cooperation among state, local, and federal partners in Virginia and beyond,” Northam said in an official statement after the rally.
It was not Northam’s “teams” that “de-escalated” the situation. His teams were busy treating veterans like terror threats for walking around the Capitol instead of attending to actual crime. The protest went like hundreds of open carry protests and patriotic gatherings have been conducted throughout the country – without even a semblance of violence or strife. There were dozens of pictures of minority gun owners at the event arm-in-arm with men in fatigues and military style regalia having a good time. Northam’s invocation of the hate hoax and his promulgated connection of the rally to Charlottesville were proven wrong on a grand stage. He put the national spotlight on the 2nd Amendment movement, only to give them millions of dollars worth of positive PR.
The patriots left the rally energized with a stronger sense of community, an understanding that their movement to protect the sacred rights of the people is legion, and the momentum is firmly on their side. Although Virginia Democrats are not taking their feet off of the gas pedal with their gun control push, the pro-2A resistance understands that the laws passed in Richmond are nothing more than words on paper without local enforcement. Northam’s hate hoax was launched because of fear and desperation because the people are no longer respecting his legitimacy, and his reckless behavior has only compounded his woes.
