On December 2, 2021, the National Association for Gun Rights’ Michigan affiliate Great Lakes Gun Rights received a threatening voicemail from Wirecutter and New York Times reporter Erin Marquis.

Marquis left the voicemail in response to a press release GLGR published in the aftermath of a shooting in Oxford, Michigan, where a gunman killed 4 people at Oxford High School.

“We’re not surprised that an angry, liberal, anti-gun New York Times reporter would show their true colors and wish we’d burn in hell – we’re just glad she was actually foolish enough to leave two voicemails for us to laugh at, and then publish,” declared Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights.

The National Association for Gun Rights published her voicemail, which can be heard here.

Earlier on December 2, GLGR published a press release criticizing the gun control bills and other proposals being championed by Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Senate Democrats in the Michigan Legislature as a response to the Oxford High School mass shooting.

The National Association for Gun Rights and its state affiliates firmly oppose all gun control measures. Their grassroots operations are dedicated towards repealing unconstitutional laws and using grassroots campaigns to pass pro-gun legislation such as Constitutional Carry.

“It’s obvious that the New York Times and their reporters believe in free speech, and so do we. But it’s also obvious they hate the Second Amendment, a right we’ll always defend along with the entire Bill of Rights. Our work protecting the Second Amendment won’t be undone by unhinged voicemails and angry tweets from whacko reporters.” said Brown in his concluding remark.
