HAHA: Top Twitter Lawyer Cries Over The Musk’s Acquisition

The sky is falling, the sky is falling! Numerous Americans around the country are engaging in public meltdowns following the acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk, who has promised to return free speech to the platform once and for all.

What makes Musk’s acquisition scary, you ask? Well, let’s take a look at what top Twitter lawyer Vijaya Gadde had to say about censorship in a 2015 op-ed she wrote in an attempt to justify her platform’s restrictive speech policies:

“I’m often inspired by the vigorous debates on controversial issues that occur on Twitter, but I’ve also been seriously troubled by the plight of some of our users who are completely overwhelmed by those who are trying to silence healthy discourse in the name of free expression,” Gadde pompously declared. “At times, this takes the form of hateful speech in tweets directed at women or minority groups; at others, it takes the form of threats aimed to intimidate those who take a stand on issues.”

Gadde has seemingly grown even more worried that Twitter will ‘foster hate’ in the form of supposed ‘free expression’ ever since Tesla CEO Elon Musk moved to purchase the platform just this past April. The Top Twitter lawyer apparently became very emotional shortly after, crying at her own virtual meeting.

Politico reports:

Shortly after billionaire Elon Musk bought the powerful social media platform, top Twitter lawyer Vijaya Gadde called a virtual meeting with the policy and legal teams she oversees to discuss what the new ownership could mean for them.

Gadde cried during the meeting as she expressed concerns about how the company could change, according to three people familiar with the meeting. She acknowledged that there are significant uncertainties about what the company will look like under Musk’s leadership.

Gadde was not the only Twitter representative who felt the intensity of Musk’s platform acquisition; other employees expressed similar sentiments.

“I think everyone at Twitter, regardless of how they feel about the news, is feeling reflective and emotional,” an anonymous Twitter employee reportedly said in a statement to Politico. “We’ve gone through a lot in the past two years and I think it’s generally instigated a lot of reflection. I think this was more of an acknowledgment of the uncertainty everyone is feeling right now.”

There were others who more or less agreed with the left-wing activism of Gadde and her Twitter friends alike. The infamous NAACP joined in on the fun with an announcement that both claimed to agree with Musk on the concept of freedom of speech while also warning him to not allow a former United States President to have any ability to speak on the platform.

“Mr. Musk: free speech is wonderful, hate speech is unacceptable. Disinformation, misinformation, and hate speech have NO PLACE on Twitter,” the statement read. “Do not allow 45 to return to the platform. Do not allow Twitter to become a petri dish for hate speech, or falsehoods that subvert our democracy. Protecting our democracy is of utmost importance, especially as the midterm elections approach. Mr. Musk: lives are at risk, and so is American democracy.”
