Highland Park July 4 Shooting Suspect Slapped With Numerous Murder Chargers

When did the United States become so violent? Progress has been made towards finding justice after Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart announced that the suspect allegedly responsible for the deaths stemming from a shooting at a Highland Park Fourth of July parade would be charged with seven counts of first-degree murder for his heinous actions.

Rinehart stressed during a press conference that these seven charges would not be all of what is brought against the suspect.

“These are just the first of many charges that will be filed against Mr. Crimo. I want to emphasize that there will be more charges,” said Rinehart.

“We anticipate dozens of more charges centering around each of the victims, psychological victims, physical victims, attempt murder charges, aggravated discharge charges, aggravated battery charges. There will be dozens more charges against Mr. Crimo, but these seven counts of first-degree murder will lead to a mandatory life sentence should he be convicted, without the possibility of parole,” he continued.

According to reporting by The Post Millenial, the suspect allegedly climbed on top of a store using a ladder Monday before he began mercilessly shooting down at the parading crowd that had gathered below. Law enforcement responding to the scene said he fired a total of almost 70 rounds into the crowd, injuring dozens and killing at least seven. One of the shooter’s victims reportedly died Tuesday, about a day after the event.

The shooter appeared to have some strange habits; reporting from Evanston Round Table revealed that the shooter had dressed in women’s clothing just prior to the shooting.

Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss condemned the attack, apparently blaming white supremacy for helping fuel it.

“White supremacy sure isn’t a new phenomenon in this country, and political violence isn’t either,” Biss wrote in a statement. “But today, white supremacists have digital tools they can use to target and radicalize young white men, who then get messages from mainstream sources that they interpret as encouragement, and furthermore have no trouble getting their hands on military-style weapons.”
