Hispanic Democrat Leaders in California are Desperately Calling for Kamala Harris’s Senate Seat to be Filled by a Hispanic

Democrats are Making an Attempt to Ethnically Pander

Published

Hispanic Democrats are getting desperate. One of the major stories of 2020 was how Republicans made solid gains with Hispanics, all the way from Florida to Texas.

Curt Mills, the senior reporter at the American Conservative, pointed out how California Democrat leaders recognize the party’s underperformance with Hispanics.

Mills tweeted, “California Latino leaders — in wake of an underwhelming performance among the demographic, nationally and in the Golden State — take out full page ad in @latimes Sunday, urging Governor Newsom to pick state Secretary of State Alex Padilla to replace Kamala Harris.”

These leaders want California Secretary of State Alex Padilla to fill in the incoming Vice President Kamala Harris’s Senate seat. Curiously, the Biden administration nominated Alejandro Mayorkas, a Cuban American. Democrats likely understand their mediocre numbers with Hispanics and are doing everything possible to pander to them by rewarding them with political positions.

Democrats are perhaps becoming aware that their grip on the Hispanic vote is not as firm many experts have made it out to be. According to exit poll data coming from CNN, 65 percent of Hispanics voted for the Democrat Party, while President Donald Trump received 32 percent of the Hispanic vote. Although these numbers are within the Republican average, context is everything.

These numbers came after a four year period when pundits assured us that Donald Trump’s tough stances on immigration would completely alienate him from Hispanic voters. Some pundits even went as far as to say that the Hispanic vote would break towards the Democrats by monolithic margins, similar to the way African Americans vote for Democrats. However, this has not been the case. As Joe Biden observed, the Hispanic community is quite diverse and cannot be easily pigeonholed.

The Trump campaign recognized and targeted certain groups such as Florida Hispanics by using the current example of Venezuela’s economic failure to appeal to them. A number of Hispanics along the South Texas border also bought into Trump’s message of border security and likely understand the dangers Mexican cartels pose. For that reason, pulling the lever for Trump was not a difficult decision.

Any productive Republican outreach with Hispanics involves appeals to law and order and a focus on border security. Right now the Democrats’ woke coalition is fragile and Republicans can exploit its contradictions by appealing to populist policies that cross racial lines and expose the corruption of a ruling class that is the enemy of all Americans.

“Moderate” Democrat Senator Joe Manchin Wants Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz Removed From the Senate

So much for moderation and unity…

Conventional wisdom can often be misleading and at times dangerous if we believe in it too strongly.

Take for example West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin. He is constantly marketed as the Democrats’ most moderate Senator. There is a grain of truth to this. Manchin has publicly stated that he opposes ending the filibuster and has also poured cold water on $2,000 stimulus checks. But that’s where the moderation ends.

Manchin is now saying that the Senate should entertain the idea of expelling Senators Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) by using the 14th Amendment over their recent decision to challenge the Electoral College results.

On PBS’s Firing Line, Manchin said the Senate should look into the option after right-wing activists stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Manchin is of the opinion that President Donald Trump and Senators like Hawley and Cruz “incited” these demonstrators.

“That should be a consideration,” Manchin stated. “He understands that. Ted’s a very bright individual, and I get along fine with Ted, but what he did was totally outside of the realm of our responsibilities or our privileges.”

According to the 14th Amendment, no elected official “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”

Hyped up leftist pundits believe that the 14th amendment is applicable to Cruz and Hawley due to how they allegedly “incited” the riot by talking about electoral fraud and pointing out electoral irregularities.

“I’m totally convinced it was done because of political reasons. This was all politically motivated. This was calculated,” declared Manchin. “I believe that all my colleagues truly made a decision that was politically best for them and expedient for them. It was not what they believed to be true or false.”

Unquestionably, Manchin is an establishment hack through and through. He may have reasonable views on gun policy, in part due to West Virginia’s strong gun culture, but Manchin is still a member of the D.C. swamp. His recent statements demonstrate this. Republican nationalists should relieve him of the burden of holding public office in 2024.
