ICE Arrests 141 Illegal Aliens Using Drunk Driving Records

The federal agency is employing a new tactic to catch suspected illegal aliens.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is using a new tactic to pick up criminal illegal aliens off the streets in New England.

“ICE agents using fingerprints from drunken driving arrests have swept up 141 illegal immigrants in New England the past few weeks, including a Kenyan national living in Lowell with pending rape, robbery and strangulation charges,” according to The Boston Herald.

The report comes on the heels of an ongoing feud between Massachusetts and the federal law enforcement entity. State prosecutors have filed a lawsuit to block ICE from entering courtrooms to detain illegal aliens after criminal proceedings. A judge in the state was recently indicted for obstruction of justice after allegedly helping an illegal alien evade ICE after a court appearance.

A Massachusetts judge left the courtroom in tears Thursday after being indicted for obstruction of justice stemming from an incident during which she allegedly helped an illegal alien escape arrest by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“Judge Shelley M. Richmond Joseph and trial court officer Wesley MacGregor are accused of conspiring to prevent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from taking an undocumented immigrant into custody at Newton District Court on April 2, 2018,” said Daily Mail. “Joseph was seen crying when she left federal court in Boston Thursday.”

Her attorney, Tom Hoopes, reportedly proclaimed her innocence outside the courthouse.

“This prosecution is absolutely political,” he said. “Shelley Joseph is absolutely innocent.”

But ICE remains undeterred in the face of the state’s obstruction. According to The Herald, all 141 illegal aliens detained in the recent sweep will be deported. The report said that others caught in the recent operation “included a Honduran living in South Boston accused of selling cocaine and a Ukrainian caught in Cambridge with two previous drunken driving convictions.”
