Illegal Alien Pleads Guilty on Human Smuggling Charges

An illegal alien from Mexico pleaded guilty earlier this week to “to conspiring to transport illegal aliens from China and Brazil within the United States.”

“Samuel Vasquez-Morales, from Mexico, entered a guilty plea June 10 before U. S District Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo,” according to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) press release.

Vasquez-Morales, who faces up to 10 years in prison, will be sentenced on Oct. 16, and will remain in federal custody until his sentencing hearing. He is expected to face deportation proceedings after his criminal affairs are settled in the United States.

“According to court documents, on April 1, 2019, Vazquez-Morales was apprehended after guiding six illegal aliens through the brush near Laredo,” the press release said. “Five were from the People’s Republic of China; one was a Brazilian national. Vazquez-Morales was determined to be a Mexican citizen illegally present in the United States as well.”

The press release said that one of the Chinese nationals paid $30,000 to be smuggled into the United States from Mexico, but did not say whether the smuggling was part of a broader operation. Vazquez-Morales said told authorities that he expected to be paid $400 for completing the job, suggesting that some larger entity would receive the lion’s share of the smuggling payment.

The report of human smuggling by an illegal alien comes during a period of gridlock in Washington, D.C. over border security.

Big League Politics reported:

President Donald J. Trump has declared a national state of emergency, for which several heavily-blue states immediately sued his administration. Democrats refuse to budge on the issue, unwilling to secure America’s borders. As illegal border crossings surge, they blocked a meaningful amount of wall funding in the 2019 federal budget.

In what many conservatives see as a colossal failure, the Republican Congress, led by former Speaker Paul Ryan, current Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, failed to deliver wall funding to the president’s desk during all of 2017 and 2018, when Republicans held the House, the Senate, and the White House.
