Interesting…. A Number of Democrats Team Up With Senate Republicans to Stymie Efforts To Give Stimulus Handouts to Illegal Aliens

Last week, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton and Todd Young put forward an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget that seeks to block the distribution of stimulus checks to illegal aliens in any of the Wuhan virus relief packages.
John Binder of Breitbart News highlighted that “All 50 Senate Republicans supported the amendment, as well as eight swing state Senate Democrats. Those Democrats include Sens. Krysten Sinema (D-AZ), Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Gary Peters (D-MI), John Hickenlooper (D-CO), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Jon Tester (D-MT), and Joe Manchin (D-WV).”
“The Biden administration shouldn’t reward illegal immigrants for breaking our laws by giving them checks,” Cotton declared in a statement. “Instead of courting foreigners with U.S. taxpayer funds, President Biden should use that money to aid American schools, businesses, and families.”
This vote is rather instructive of how wary Democrats in relatively competitive states are of voting for unpopular pro-illegal alien policies. The 2022 and 2024 election cycles will have many of these Senators up for election.
Binder highlighted the razor thin margins that some of these Senators ended up winning by:
Hassan, for instance, is up for re-election in 2022. During her last election, she barely unseated then-Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) with only about 1,000 votes separating the two.
Likewise, Sinema, Stabenow, Manchin, and Tester are all up for re-election in 2024. Many of their vote margins in their 2018 Senate runs were small. Tester, for example, won against Republican Matt Rosendale by less than 18,000 while Manchin won re-election by less than 19,400 votes.
Despite Democrat’s desires to radically transform America’s political system via mass migration, many voters across America will not put up with such devious behavior.
There are still large swathes of Middle Americans who will resist any kind of efforts to enhance the managerial state’s power. A similar dynamic will likely be on display regarding the Second Amendment, should Democrats try to overplay their hand with draconian gun control proposals.
Using wedge issues could prove deadly for Democrats in the 2022 midterms, when grassroots voters will be motivated to engage in backlash politics against tone-deaf politicians who think they can abuse Middle Americans without any political consequences.
