Interesting: Rashida Tlaib Confirms That Some Government Workers Are Quitting

Michigan Democrat congresswoman Rashida Tlaib confirmed at a press conference outside the Capitol Thursday that some furloughed federal government workers are quitting their jobs.

Tlaib said that TSA agents are quitting, while calling for legislation to end the federal government shutdown without funding President Donald Trump’s southern border Wall.

Money recently reported: “The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest union of federal employees, representing about 44,000 TSA workers, says some TSA employees have resigned, and others are considering quitting after working one of the busiest air travel periods of the year without pay.”

Interesting.

Some of the furloughed government employees stood outside the White House chanting “Pay Us Now,” while others have found new hope in the private sector, becoming Uber drivers, or in the public sector, getting substitute-teacher jobs.

President Donald Trump has agreed to give back pay to the furloughed government workers who return.

Not giving back pay to the furloughed workers would have saved the American taxpayers more than $1 billion per week.

The Trump administration can lay off furloughed workers after 30 days through the “Reduction in Force” procedure.

It is unclear at this time how much taxpayer money has already been saved by government workers quitting their public-sector jobs.
