Iranian Diplomat Blames Russo-Ukrainian Military Conflict on Western Interference
The Islamic Republic of Iran views the current military struggle between Russia and Ukraine as a failure of Western foreign policy.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani stated on October 3, 2022 that “The Islamic Republic of Iran supports any measures that may be taken to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine, and it has always expressed readiness to help and facilitate the process.”
Kanaani noted that the authorities in Tehran expressed their thoughts about the current Russo-Ukrainian conflict.
In addition, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman proclaimed that the present geopolitical tragedy was the result of NATO’s encroachments on Russia’s traditional sphere of influence.
“Unfortunately, the flame of the war in Ukraine, ignited by the US-led NATO’s provocative actions, is still burning, while efforts to ease tensions and contain the conflict have so far failed to work due to the actions of parties interested in continuing the crisis,” Kanaani declared.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran supports any measures that may be taken to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine, and it has always expressed readiness to help and facilitate the process,” Kanaani noted. “The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that all provocative actions that could undermine peace, stability and calm should be avoided,” he continued.
Since the end of the Cold War, Iran and Russia have experienced a strengthening in relations, driven in large part due to US antagonism towards the Eurasian actors and the common foe they have in radical Sunni Islamism, which is largely funded by the West.
As the Collective West grows more ornery, Russia and Iran will draw closer to one another in an effort to balance against the US. Those are the realities of the new geopolitical chessboard being assembled before our very eyes.
