Joe Biden’s Open Borders Regime is Costing US taxpayers $200 Billion
According to Mark Krikorian, the Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies, American taxpayers are on the hook for $200 billion for the ruling class’s commitment to open borders.
Krikorian used previous research that CIS conducted to determine that “the lifetime cost to taxpayers of each illegal immigrant is over $80,000” when these figures are adjusted for inflation. Under the Biden regime, Homeland Security has allowed 2 million illegal border crossers to enter the country, which puts the lifetime costs for taxpayers close to $150 billion, per Krikorian’s analysis.
When 1 million got-aways — illegal invaders who were detected by Border Patrol security systems but not apprehended by Border Patrol agents due to strained resources at the border — are factored in, those costs go well past $200 billion.
Krikorian put perspective to these ridiculous costs:
- The entire gross domestic product of New Zealand, or Greece, or Peru.
- The budget of New York, a city of 8.5 million, for two years.
- Five years of funding for NYC’s schools.
- Roughly 41% of what the nation spends on welfare overall in a year.
- Enough to buy every NFL team and still have $60 billion left over.
The costs of mass migration are real. Mass migration strains public infrastructure and also puts a lot of pressure on the US’s already flawed welfare system, as most migrants from the Global South tend to be low-skilled and more likely to fall on the public dole. Given the US political class’s profligate spending, illegal immigration could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back that results in a total fiscal collapse.
However, the real cost of mass migration lies in its demographic destabilizing effects. If mass migration is allowed to occur, the Historic American nation as we know it will cease to exist.
