John Cornyn Secures Victory in Texas Senate Race, Colorado’s Gardner Loses to Democrat
One Republican Senator in Texas secured his reelection, and another in Colorado lost to the Democrat.
Texas’ John Cornyn recieved a concession call from Democrat MJ Hegar on Tuesday night. The state has yet to be called for President Trump or Biden, but early results show a horse race with the major Democrat-leaning cities of Dallas and Houston already counted.
A vulnerable Colorado Republican Senator, Cory Gardner, was projected to lose to Democrat and former Governor John Hickenlooper.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also easily defeated a well-funded Democrat challenger in Kentucky, quickly dispelling Democratic dreams of retiring the longtime Republican caucus leader from his position.
Senate seats in Arizona, Minnesota and Michigan are likely to determine the partisan composition of the upper chamber.
