Karma Hits Chicago Hard As Neighboring County Sheriffs Refuse To Bail Them Out

Chicago Mayor and aspiring medical tyrant, Lori Lightfoot.

Chicago has an illustrious history of sound governance and prudent public policy, so much so that the Windy City’s population has trended downwards almost continually since the 1950s and is nearly a million people below its peak. Chicago was also one of the last jurisdictions in the country to fully open up… only to start closing back up again as soon as an excuse presented itself. More recently, the city’s draconian vaccine mandates on its direct employees have come back to bite Mayor Lightfoot squarely in the proverbial rear.

According to The Epoch Times, a number of county sheriffs representing the suburb regions of Chicago have declared that they will turn down any and all requests from the decaying city regarding sending deputies in order to relieve them of their staffing shortages. These shortages appear to be the direct result of the recent vaccine mandates that have now gone into full effect.

One of the more prominent announcements came from Sheriff Ron Hain, the Sheriff of neighboring Kane County, saying that he does not “feel like the onus is on us to go in there in an emergency situation that was created by poor government and a lack of support the officers receive,”appearing to be much more concerned with the jurisdiction he was elected to serve. What makes this turn of events rather amusing to some is the fact that Hain is himself a registered Democrat.

Apparently, there was a notice sent by a statewide law enforcement coalition pleading to local law enforcement organizations to assist jurisdictions in need in their times of crisis. However, Hain stood firm in his decision to refuse the plea as he saw the shortage of law enforcement personnel in America’s third-largest city to be entirely the fault of Lightfoot’s far-left agenda and its inevitable accompanying mismanagement.

DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick echoed similar sentiments, pointing out that it would be beyond ludicrous to plug the gap left by unvaccinated personnel in Chicago by sending in other unvaccinated reinforcements.

“It doesn’t make sense to say I only want my residents touching vaccinated people, but I’m going to send all these potentially unvaccinated people from other municipalities to replace them,” Mendrick said.

“It’s like a preplanned police shortage,” he also said, adding that “the lack of logic is the thing that astounds me.”

Hain also expressed additional concerns regarding the prospect of sending his deputies over to Chicago, with these concerns directed at the manner in which the Cook County state’s attorney may treat his personnel, given the county’s track record of undermining the ability of law enforcement to do anything effective to combat crime.

“It just seems to be a wild card without a clear understanding of what is reality and what is not,” Hain remarked. “I have a great deal of faith in our state’s attorney here and I understand how she would review a case, but in Cook County, how does Jussie Smollett get so much attention and get released, but a police officer gets charged with excessive use of force and aggravated battery?”

Thus far, less than two-thirds of Chicago police officers have submitted to the vaccine tyranny of Lightfoot’s regime, which set the deadline for all city employees to submit to the hastily-approved vaccine by the 15th of October. It would appear that the city might be setting itself up for a rather messy battle, both in the courtrooms and on the streets as the city continues to spiral into chaos.
