Lauren Boebert Changes Congressional District to Improve Her Electoral Prospects in 2024

On December 27, 2023, Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert announced that she would run to represent Colorado’s 4th congressional district. She did so in an effort to avoid rematching with Democrat rival Adam Frisch in a race that was razor tight during the 2022 midterms.

By changing districts, Boebert has better odds of staying in Congress, while Republicans have a better chance of maintaining their hold over both districts.

Boebert is the current representative of Colorado’s 3rd district. The 4th district is the most conservative seat in the Rocky Mountain State. Colorado Congressman Ken Buck currently holds this seat, but he had previously announced that he will not seek re-election.

“Today, I am announcing my candidacy for the 2024 Republican nomination to represent Colorado’s Fourth Congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. It’s the right move for me personally, and it’s the right decision for those who support our conservative movement. This is the right move for Colorado. For us,” Boebert proclaimed in a video announcement on Facebook.

“Since the first day I ran for public office, I promised I would do whatever it takes to stop the socialists and communists from taking over our country. That means staying in the fight,” she continued.

Boebert recognized that a rematch against Frisch would be a grueling affair that would likely draw national attention and even intervention from liberal groups who want Boebert out of Congress.

“I will not allow dark money, that is directed at destroying me personally, to steal this seat. It’s not fair to the third district and the conservatives there who have fought so hard for our victories, of which I’m incredibly grateful,” Boebert stated.

In her video, Boebert alluded to some of her personal struggles, such as her high-profile divorce,

“I did not arrive at this decision easily. A lot of prayer. A lot of tough conversations and a lot of perspective has convinced me that this is the best way I can continue to fight for Colorado, for the conservative movement and for my children’s future and for the future of our great country,” she stated.

Back in  2022, Boebert defeated Frisch by a razor thin count of 546 votes. Despite losing, Frisch still likes his odds and has announced his run for 2024.

“We have one of the greatest name ID, fundraising, and district-wide relationship advantages for any challenger in the country,” he declared. “From Day 1 of this race, I have been squarely focused on defending rural Colorado’s way of life, and offering common sense solutions to the problems facing the families of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.”

“My focus will remain the same, and I look forward to bringing these issues with me to Congress in 2024,” Frisch continued.

It will be interesting to see how things will play out for Colorado’s congressional delegation in 2024. Despite her flaws, Boebert remains one of the more solid members of Congress in terms of her commitment to America First values.

Having her remain in Congress will go a long way in facilitating the America First transformation of the GOP.
