Employees of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) were given a chilling warning from their acting director. He told them to “always keep doors and windows locked” and to “be aware of unexpected changes in and around your home.” This came in response to heightened threats against the department, including an incident where an official found a burnt animal carcass on his front porch.
These threats have come in response to the left over-blowing Trump’s policy on separating families at the border, which has now been reversed. In response, many on the left have called for the harm of government officials involved in securing our borders.
Making things even worse, recently a list of employees of ICE, which is the immigration enforcement wing of DHS was released online by Antifa. These concerns were laid out by acting DHS Director Claire M. Grady in a memo sent to employees.
“This assessment is based on specific and credible threats that have been levied against certain DHS employees and a sharp increase in the overall number of general threats against DHS employees — although the veracity of each threat varies,” Claire M. Grady said. “In addition, over the last few days, thousands of employees have had their personally identifiable information publically [sic] released on social media.”
This is a testament to the true danger that comes from the left overreacting to border security policies of President Donald Trump. The far-left has been promoting the idea that Trump’s policy at the border that involved family separations is morally comparable to the holocaust and Nazi Germany. Because of that, there are a lot of people who believe that fighting back against ICE employees, even violently, is the morally right because they are Nazis in their eyes.
As long as the left continues to bring violent rhetoric into the immigration debate, employees of DHS will continually be in danger.
