Liberal-Run Cities Shut Down Gun Sales Using Chinese Coronavirus Pandemic as Excuse

This is an assault on the 2nd Amendment.

Cities that are run by liberals are beginning to cut off gun sales, which have skyrocketed throughout the country in recent days with the coronavirus pandemic shutting down America.

San Jose, Calif. Mayor Sam Liccardo declared that gun stores were “non-essential businesses,” and they are no longer permitted to stay open during the lock down effective immediately.

“We are having panic buying right now for food,” Liccardo said on Wednesday. “The one thing we cannot have is panic buying of guns.”

The San Jose police explained how they carried out an order to shut down the Bullseye Bishop gun store, which had a massive line of people buying weapons before they were forced to close.

“We went out there and closed it,” San Jose police Chief Eddie Garcia said, mentioning that the gun store owner was complaint as they were snuffing out his livelihood.

The move to ban gun stores has only made the emergency situation even more tense as panic grips the public. People are worried that they will not be able to defend themselves and their family as the crisis worsens.

“Essential? It’s our right to arm ourselves,” 37-year-old painting contractor Joshua Wolfe said. “Toilet paper is essential, right? People are going nuts for that, right?”

“If they’re short on supplies, they’ll come after people who are prepared,” Wolfe added.

“I’ve seen people fighting over toilet paper. I’m worried what they will do out of desperation,” said 31-year-old San Jose resident J.V. Sumabat.

“When people start looting stores and they don’t have access to food, they could come into the homes of those they feel are vulnerable. I’d rather be prepared,” he added.

There are also reports that the city of Washington D.C. has halted gun sales as well.

Meanwhile, the fake news is urging people to be unarmed and vulnerable during this unprecedented disaster.

“And, so, if the best way to stop the coronavirus pandemic is to listen to the guidance of health professionals and scientists, then Americans must also tune out the grifters who are using this crisis to sell more firearms and embrace the overwhelming and conclusive science around the dangers of gun ownership,” wrote anti-gun activists Igor Volsky and Joseph Sakran in a CNN op/ed.

“If you’re looking to protect your family, continue to buy food and basic essentials as needed, not guns and ammunition — and then stay home,” they concluded.

The Left is making it difficult for ordinary people to be able to defend themselves and their property during the coronavirus crisis.

Trump Administration Withdraws Nominee for ATF Director After Evasive Gun Control Answers in Senate

Chuck Canterbury avoided answering questions on gun control.

The Trump administration is withdrawing its nomination for Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, after Chuck Canterbury alienated several Republican Senators during his July confirmation hearing for refusing to give an answer to questions regarding his personal opinion on gun laws.

Canterbury avoided answering several questions from GOP senators during his testimony, claiming he didn’t want to express any opinions that contrasted with the stated policy views of the Fraternal Order of Police. Canterbury is the former President of that organization.

Senators such as Louisiana’s John Kennedy questioned Canterbury’s evasive testimony in July.

I like straight answers, and you are being evasive,” said Kennedy. “You have been nominated to run ATF. I think every member of this panel, both my Democratic friends and Republican friends who have feelings about the Second Amendment, are entitled to know both morally and legally what you believe.

Canterbury had been asked numerous times about his policy views on matters such as banning so-called “assault weapons.”

The ATF has tremendous power over the American gun industry and Second Amendment community, and in some cases have banned previously legal forms of weapons with impunity. Some firearms enthusiasts have become increasingly skeptical of the agency in recent years, and conservatives have sought additional oversight. High-level ATF leadership have spoken of what they believe to be a conspiracy against their agency, further alienating gun rights supporters.

The Trump administration formally informed the Senate that it was withdrawing Canterbury’s nomination on Tuesday. His ambiguous views towards common gun control proposals had ensured his nomination was stalled, and now pulled.
