Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick Threatens to Take Joe Biden Off the Texas Ballot

Towards the end of December, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick appeared on Fox News to reveal that he might work to remove President Joe Biden from the presidential ballot in the Lone Star State.

Patrick made this move in response to the State Supreme Court of Colorado removing Trump from the 2024 Republican Primary ballot.

The Colorado justices alluded to the 14th Amendment’s “Insurrection Clause” to the US Constitution that bars candidates who took oaths of office who “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” or those who “have given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof” in an unprecedented decision.

Patrick recently said to conservative television host Laura Ingraham on her Fox News program that the Democratic president’s handling of the border should be sufficient to remove him from the ballot in the Lone Star State.

“Seeing what happened in Colorado makes me think — except we believe in democracy in Texas — maybe we should take Joe Biden off the ballot in Texas for allowing eight million people to cross the border since he’s been president, disrupting our state for more than anything anyone else has done in recent history,” Patrick stated.

Trump still has time to get back on the ballot. Colorado’s Supreme Court won’t decide until early January if he will be on or off the ballot, which gives the former president time to appeal the state supreme court decision. On top of that, he stated that he is willing to take this case all the way to the US Supreme Court.

Patrick is right to fight back against Democrats’ latest venture to deprive Republican voters of a legitimate option for the 2024 presidential election cycle. In this critical moment of American history, playing by the rules is simply suicidal.

Republicans will have to fight fire with fire.
